Salute Gully' classic journalism fam, I remember Skip was with the Bucks may be his rookie yr, he got in a game late in the 4th, and he got the ball and started walking and skipping with it bringing it up court, the Refs blew the whistle for traveling! CLASSIC! Salute the Legend Skip' Rafer Alston...
I found out about Skip when And 1 came out with that laceless shoe and you had to buy it to get the Mix tape lol classic. He blew my mind watching him dancing with the ball schooling guys effortlessly. Instantly became a fan. Legend.
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work just give him the credit and respect that he deserve a game changer for ever 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Lol hell yeah bro eddie house was antagonizing the shxt out of him. I think he felt small on a team with names like garnett, pierce, allen and he finally got a shot on skip and just lost it then skip had to check that headband 👀 😆

Shadyville.. & Southside Queens.. Rochdale village! Those was the good old days! I love playing basketball and watching dudes like skip I know you feel me.. sneaking into Cardoza high School! To watch this nigga play..I,s 8 tournaments.. an all that 💯
I got a picture with Skip at the And1 basketball tour here in Sacramento. I was 9yrs old. Bacc then before u went inside the event they’d have hoops out front and whoever was the rawest would be the ones that got a chance to play against them. Hot Sauce, Skip, Spyda, Main Event, The Proessor, Escalade those was my guys
This is the INSPIRATION THE YOUTH NEED Now the gangster stories r just as necessary BUT they should be promoted as such JUST A STORY AND NOTHING TO GLORIFY CUZ WHEN UR IN THE LIFE AND LIVING IT ITS NOT FUN AT ALL SO THAT SHOULD BE THE MESSAGE
I am 37 and hooped growing up, played Varsity for a few HS in LA. Even though I learned how to play on the street, things were structured back then. If you were crazy tall, people especially coaches would trip if you shot 3's and don't even think about putting some sauce on your dribble. It was all about staying in your lane and taking the "highest %" shot. As the years went by, big men have handles and they get in high 3pt reps when practicing. If a guard shot from 3ft behind the 3pt line, coach was benching you ASAP. Even if that shot drops, coach would consider it luck, now days guys are hitting high % from long range. With all that being said, these kids now days are soft. Flopping was strictly reserved for soccer players and females. And one more thing, Harden would have got hit with 3 travels, 2 fouls and a T, if he tried to pull off that step-back in 1995.
Queens Ny in the building... ! Skip was the men on a New York City Queens playground.! Growing up playing b-ball .... And me being from Queens.. and being two years younger than skip..! I watch this dude as a kid.. I,s eight tournaments in South Jamaica Queens.. even watch him when he played at Cardoza high School.. son was super nice.. we all know he would make it to the NBA! Good times..! Queens for Life💯
Jameer Nelson cost him an NBA ring. Skip and Dwight Howard carried Orlando to finals when Jameer was injured. Then Jameer brought his hurt ass back and coach benched skip. Magic was done after that.
I'm from Coatesville home of Richard Hamilton. We need more of these Gally basketball stories bro. The streets is a death trap or jail if you keep living that. We on positive vibes in 2021 already. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I used to watch those And 1 videos religiously before school. Skip to my Lou handle was outta this world. Saw him at the G spot in Brownsville one time lol
When Family comes to NorthCarolina From NYC on summer vacation and Holidays this is the nigga they were imitating on the court and getting there ass handed to them and made Nyc look bad Not until And-1 Tapes were on ESPN did people get it around here. But I always knew what it was..#SALUTE to a legend #GOAT 💯..#But Dean Smith wasn't having none of that shit.I know for a fact that he used to go to NEWYORK and watch all of these guys including Skip.
Great interview! But the best ''handles'' out of Queens arguably wasn't Skip, Kenny Anderson, Kenny Smith or Mark Jackson, but Greg ''Boo'' Harvey that went to St Johns in 1986-87. And his 2 guard with him at St Johns was one of the alltime greatest players in high school history in the state of Virginia my cousin Michael ''Freak'' Porter. Watch old St Johns footage from 1986-87. Guard to guard alley oops and all. They killed it together in Junior college, won the JUCO national championship, then went to St Johns and Lou Carnesecca had these 2 EXPLOSIVE ass guards walking the ball up. SMH! Ask any old head from Queens about Boo Harvey and any old head from Virginia about Michael ''Freak'' Porter from Pulaski H.S. and they'll tell you how legendary both were.
With all due respect Skip, I partially disagree on the subject of Professor. Everything you said was correct, but Fess didn't get it in the streets he got his name off And 1. And 1 tried to change the rules when it came to streetball which is why I feel it got watered down. I was one of those dudes that watched every volume coming up and there's not a better volume than the original.
True Story.. when he played for the bucks, he would come out to the parks in Milwaukee... he made a dude that was holding him fall to the ground and break his shoulder...

I was taught to never idolize another man I've seen people from television irl and thought cool and kept it moving. Just how it was coming up around hardheads and the OGs But when I brushed past Skip in downtown Manahattan June 1st, 2008 I was put to the test. This is literally the street ball god I watched on ebc classic x And 1 for years. Shit hit different. It was like the universe was saying oh you tough huh? Lol Mind you I'm walking around looking for some tail I wasn't planning on fanning out and wasn't that many black people walking around the lobby of the Sheraton so all I saw was a brotha holding a briefcase in a suit. Till our paths nearly crossed and he passed ....I had to do a slow double take and y'all know being on the east coast you don't really focus too much on one thing but it caught me. It's fucking rafer alston. He didn't look pleased either, this is the same year celtics beat his Orlando magic. I wasn't about to double back and approach him. People be like man it wasn't even that serious you just should've said what's up. Bro I was like 23 at the time hoodie on I basically look like a thug to that nigga lol. Outside of my own pops and uncles tho he definitey inspired me.
