  • So, after many requests, I have started to cover the Liverpool Waters Project.
There is so much to take in due to it being such a large area but we have made a start today looking at the site area and sharing a lot of recent information as to the progress.
I hope you enjoy the video and the many to come on this project over the next 20 years!!!

Great to see all this redevelpment of our great city. We need a well connected tram network, a new outstanding bold unique skyscraper that idenitifies itself with Liverpool just like its predecessors. Also, the return of an ice rink to Liverpool would add to its appeal.

Fabulous video Nick. I shall be watching all the videos you do of this project. The project looks very exciting.

Interesting - but I really hope they limit the height of all new buildings so that the Liver Buildings can still be seen from all angles (including from the Everton stadium)

The proposed new tall buildings look horrible and would block out the nice architecture; hopefully those plans will be reviewed

I am from Kuwait. I love Liverpool and (Liverpoolians)😍. I think the city is not making the best of its waterfront. Instead of building a football stadium, storage areas, and residential houses I think it is better to build touristic projects and first class hotels with lots of lights and music, first class restaurants on the water side, walking areas, and tall modern residential buildings with shopping malls on the lower floors.

Thanks, Nick. I really enjoyed the footage. Irrespective of Peel's plans, I keep imagining how I'd do it. Politics is always a limiting factor but it could have been something truly special. I am sure it will eventually be great but not world-beating.

The city badly needs an ICE SKATING RINK, for a city not to have this facility since 1986 is criminal since Liverpool city council shut it down, being a skater myself who has been skating since age of 4 now 65 and not stopping anytime soon it's important for the city that we have this facility, the Trafford centre has now approved such a facility which will be operational in the next 15 months with a seating capacity of around 3000, 5000 for when they cover the ice for other events such as concerts, wrestling and boxing etc, we always seem to lag well behind Manchester, their actions always speak louder than Liverpool city council words, lets make this change, I mean the Stanley cup which is ice hockey's most prestige TROPHY is named after LORD STANLEY, an ex LORD MAYOR of Liverpool 🇬🇧

Great stuff Nick. Now that the city has thankfully lost the albatross of 'World Heritage Status' Peel should reappraise many of their proposed schemes, greatly upgrading the massing and heights.

Nick, Liverpool Waters used to do their own regular update videos on the different construction projects. They haven't done one for about a year or so since the pace of construction has slowed in general (stadium excluded) - they should start using you instead!

Peel by enlarge have been absolutely hopeless. The plan has been revised downwards time and again and it’ll end up as mid rise suburban dross. It could have been a world class waterfront, with large, tall, ambitious buildings… it’ll end up being like Warrington on sea. A great shame. Well done Peel and Liverpool Council for completely missing the mark. Also Peel are too invested in Salford and should never have been near Liverpool, it shows, the development progress outside of the stadium has been glacial.

That thumbnail photo says it all. Low ambition, narrow mindsets! We could be the New York of England, taking on Manchester and London, heightening the competitiveness, giving them something to worry about but the council and a lot of Liverpool citizens have very narrow mindsets and refuse to move out of a time gone by era. It’s sad to see and so frustrating! I want skyscrapers (taller the better) in grand design, stunning architecture but until the city’s mindset changes, there is no hope to improve and move the city forward in a more positive way. All that potential wasted because of ego and greed 😢

New York is a megacity Liverpool will never be like that....but there's no reason to not go for a Vancouver type of design...buildings should be at least 200m tall on a waterfront...the current design looks sub-standard

The dates you give have never been met. I'm 51 and I hope I'm not in my 80s upon completion. Plans are approved but nothing happens. The park should be starting now. I know you want to keep peel onboard due to possible jobs but I things need to move quicker.

Anyone local knows its an inhospitable location outside the summer months given it's even less sheltered than further down the riverside.

Na look at west kirby and hoylake (two of the most desirable places in merseyside) that built up right to the edge of the dee bay and irish sea which is equally as exposed to weather if not more so. People love living by a river or sea and the views it provides and riverside properties are generally the most expensive.

To be honest Jay even though I live in Liverpool I really love going over to New Brighton on a very windy day, especially when the tide is in. 6 years ago my wife and I were on the Isle of Man ferry during a force 8 gale/storm. It was brilliant.

It has taken them 20 years to start it. It's gone from a bold, high-rise plan to a collection of apartments that will be sold to foreign investors.

Good video but really depressing that it’s going to take so long to complete, who knows what the future holds that could delay the project even more. Also if this was london vast amounts of money would be thrown at it and the whole site would be completely redeveloped in 10 years ( look at Nine Elms and bankyard for example). And if the company behind the the project goes out of business will it all go back to the drawing board . No wonder people in the north of England believe they are always at the back of the queue.

Councillors and planners from other modern developing cities wouldn't leave an area of such prominent land a sh!te-hole for so long. It'll be in the same state for another 30 years at least. There's no foresight. Some councillors in 2022 voted NOT to expand Speke Airport saying, "...nobody wants airport expansion"... a transport hub for the city and they didn't want it to grow and prosper. It beggars belief.

Peel has been having us over for years on this and wirral waters also the original plans were announced in 2007 not 2013.. You see land has more value and more easy to maintain than water you can build on land and not on water so Peels hidden agenda is to surreptitiously fill in the docks over the 30 years to create more land to build on you can see from the video how much water area has already been filled in, bit by bit little by little over 30 years younger generations will not notice this and the older generations the ones who are more likely to protest will slowly die off. Yes the dockand need developing but not at the total loss of these historic docks, which incidentally were owned by the people off liverpool and who's proffits when they were working docks was re invested in them the citizens paid for them to be built and they where managed by the dock trustees the M.D.H.B..the council sold them off to Peel holdings along with the existing port of Liverpool. Yes build on the dock quays but don't fill them in to create more land... Look at Nicks video of Evertons ground and you'll see the dock passage on the west stand has been filled in surreptitiously ,this is not on the original plans which show this water space was to be maintained... Land equals value ect.

    • @prisma619
      @prisma619 6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I think the plan is to dig out the dock passage beside the west stand once the area is no longer required for construction traffic, such as the large cranes needed to install the cladding along the sides of the stadium.
