This interview took me much longer to appreciate than just listening to a conversation. I had to stop several times and search through YT to find the music pieces being discussed. Then listening to them and returning for the next part of the interview. I happen to like the 4th Symphony of Tchaikovsky as a favorite; with the Violin Concerto in D Major as also good representative piece to enjoy. Schuman while once listened to with appreciation has been forgotten until today's mentionings. So I had to find at least 2 versions of the same piece of music to compare and remember. I chose the Violin Concerto in D Minor with either Joshua Bell or Isabelle Faust as the Solo Violin Performer. Most grateful for the insights.
Daniel was having a moment at 48:50 to say something meaningful but James cut him off to ask the next question 😢😢😢. I would have liked to hear him finish that thought he had.
A wonderful young man and a talented musician. I just don’t agree with his reference to Dostoevsky as one of the ideals. Dostoevsky's works and ideology are a mixture of Christian nationalism and Slavic fascism. One of Dostoevsky’s biographers wrote that he had fun in the bathhouse with very young girls in the villages of Russia.
I am so humbled by the depth and breadth of his musical soul. So sensitive and ardent. Daniel is a very precious musician indeed.

Sounds like you haven't read Dostoevsky, he sure is one of the Greatest.
