His movements have slowed down a bit and shots are not that accurate anymore. He's having difficulties playing against higher ranking players. It's a wise decision to retire.🙏🏻
^ I dont think that’s the case because the higher ranking folks arent that good these days and nobody really dominates. I think the reason why he retires is because tournaments have quota for each country. Momota, with his ranking in Japan, basically prevents him from joining any of them even if he signs up for it. Tbh, his last 3 2023 tournament result is pretty impressive with 87% win rate and he really made the impression that “he is back”. What he said during his interview really just seems like lip-service with his performance.
@@luisme719 yes i also think it was lip service because the real reason of him retiring is the financial crisis of the japanese federation who don't have the money to send him on international tournaments anymore
Feeling emotional again seeing our Champ, Kento humbly playing . BWF Tours will never be the same without him. 💔 We'll surely miss you in court. All the best to our Legend. ♥️♥️🙏🙏 Your #1 fan in PH🇵🇭
All the best kento! Always feel excited to see the way you play badminton, the precision of the shots, the footwork. Such a legend, btw all the best from Malaysia 🇲🇾
Momota is such a delight to watch, everyone knows that, but the German is actually quite good too in that first game, glad to see European badminton become more and more developed.
I'm going to cheer him on all the way to the very end! While his performance may not be as strong as it once was, I'm still so proud of him for reaching the highest rank of Japanese athletes.
they are all against higher ranked players, and you know the past years, his record against high ranked players is not good. but I hope he gets to play at least one more time.
@@OwenLaw-lu7oq Momota lost to a low rank Taiwanese player not too long ago,, that’s why not sure if Japan will feel comfortable playing him. But we would all love to see Momota play again.
No need to be so bitter la!!!.. Speechless konon.. Well, hater always find a fault in everything. Always gonna hate hate hate hate hate hate. Since retired must challenge the hardest 1?? Haha, you joking right? You know how tournament working right??? Speechless!!!
SUGGESTION FOR MATHIAS MOMOTA is an old player you shld have concentrated in making him play long rallies and not finishing early then leave to his rest his old tired legs
Axelsen is far from Momota. Momota had great skills to dominate the badminton world yet was extremely humble and modest. He had never yelled at his rivals.
Love the China fans giving that warm reception towards Momota for his one last dance tournament 🥲
The only Japanese player to get support even from the Chinese. Salute you, Kento.
Sooooo trueeeee
this momota looks more like 50-70% of prime momota, cos he has no pressure. i feel emotional today
Correct, the moment he announced his retirement he shed the whole pressure and expectations off his shoulders. 😢

I see that momota's movement is far lighter and better than last year. It's unfortunate he has decided to retire this year.
I do notice this too. Perhaps the pressure on his shoulder is gone since he's made up his mind? He's just drifting across the whole court easily ❤
I feel like he shouldn't retired because he perform so well
so pity for momota's 2021Tokyo Olympic Games
that should be his good chance😢
It’s so beautiful watching momota play
Great to see momota enjoy badminton again without pressure. Happy retirement
Not gonna lie I almost teared up by the end of the match. This match might really be the last we see of Kento on the international stage
Strangely enough, I was also in tears when hearing commentor saying "we gonna miss him momota"

Momota was playing with him during that first set......he is still playing well
Is it just me or is Momota moving super smooth this match
Prime Kento slipping in the shoes of his current self.

what's the BGM you used in the end? Very good
Momota please don't retire.. 😢

I really like how we'll never predict where the next placing of the shutter. No pressure, everything looks just fine and won
He will be one of the biggest ‘what if’s in badminton. We can only wonder how good he could’ve been had he not suffered the accident.
Semoga momota tdk pensiun, tetapberlaga sja di turnamen berikutnya
A glimpse of his previous glory... he played with no tension... miss this moment for long2 time
not gonna lie, without seeing the names and title of video, i thot it was anderson
When you think you should have a comparable opponent as MS3 but he is the one and only Kento Momota!
He really loves badminton, it's must be hard retirement for him.
Good job again Momota-san

Sad to see end of momotan era..
Momota's opponent looks similar to Ander Antonsen in terns of playing style
Possibly his last international match. There is no guarantee Japan will play him against Taiwan and in elimination round.
they are all against higher ranked players, and you know the past years, his record against high ranked players is not good.
but I hope he gets to play at least one more time.
@@OwenLaw-lu7oq I think there might be a chance. Japanese team put him at the last match playing Srikanth Kidambi
@newericaahtiongCTC is MS1. The two won't face each other even if they want too. Momota being the lowest ranked Japanese MS can only play MS3.

SUGGESTION FOR MATHIAS
MOMOTA is an old player you shld have concentrated in making him play long rallies and not finishing early

Nah. He has lost half of his quick movements but his stamina still can compete with all of them.
Momota was once king of rallies. Though he's not as quick as he once was, he could still easily beat the German.
This is so sad. Axelsen wouldn't be near as successful if all the bad things didn't happen to Momota.
