I was there on the Sunday afternoon. The whole vibe was pure electricity , rippling thru a crowd of contemporaries , well wishers , friends, foes & fallen idols. Hard to believe it's 15 years since he died. I remember the crowd just buzzing. Nick Cave , at the back , alone & with a force field like space around him. Peter Garrett, an excited Penny Wong, Cate Blanchett, Robert Forster & Chris Bailey ( RIP) , Warren Ellis & Jim White with the great Greek musician Psaradontis amongst others. Rowland opened with a searing 10 min version or Pop Crimes , with Mick Harvey on drums & JP Shilo on guitar & the late Brian Hooper on bass. It was an amazing sight & the sound of 'the Golden Age of Bloodshed' bouncing off Sydney Harbour & around the Island is unforgettable . The Crying Jag was wailing ❤️🙌🏽🙏🏼
I was so happy with how packed that courtyard was, whether the audience knew him or not at the time, and I'm glad it all had an impact on you. :) I was in Oz for just the month and had only turned 18 a few months earlier, in time to attend the festival. By far my fondest memories.

Greatest Love song ever? Or is it about life? Or is the life slipping away a metaphor for love gone? beautiful....

Thankyou for uploading this. I was in the crowd watching - loved hearing his guitar sound live in such a unique, outdoor stage.
