Not much have has changed since I left Umuahia in the early 80's till date. Still sparce population with rusty roofing buildings. Even though it is the capital of Abia state. I am really disappointed! umunna.
As an Umuahian with foreign born children I feel very happy showing my kids and wife my town. Not the best if towns compared to Owerri and others in the east but I'm proud.
Not much has changed, I'm very disappointed. The post office made me weep, why can't we take care of heritage, yes, the roads have new tarmac on but where is the pedestrian pavement? My problem with Nigeria as a whole is that we do not take care of our buildings be it private or government-owned we only act when the worst happens. I know most of the roads and streets you featured in your blog. I grew up in Cameroon street off Uzoakoli road, Ummahia is very dear to my heart. I hope to be home soon and contribute to making it better.
Born in uk london, but i know of all these places you drove past, as i regularly came there to my maternal grandparents home in afugiri umuekwule umoshi. I love umuahia but i wish alot more can be done to improve, and i do enjoy more than lagos owerri or anywhere else.
To be sincere nothing has changed...the way and condition Dr ogbonnaya onu left things so they are till now.. quite a shame ,l have been away for 15 years still....l could not see any changes. Okezie ikpeazu is a disgrace.. watching from Georgia.
Umuahia lack street light but pls just take look at my state ebonyi how is like now, thanks my sister, i watch from Europe and you poeple are trying to promote our biafra land thanks once again bye
And Abia state produces fossil fuel? Oil dey for my backyard!!! Very tragic!!!!! This place is not even fit to be a village, at least villages are clean ...Narrow roads, dirty, dilapidated buildings and when will our people do away with these open gutters? Even with all the mosquitoes and malaria!!!! ABA is hands down better planned and have more potentials than Umuahia, especially old Aba. Yet, Umuahia is a younger city than Aba. What does that tell you? We are going backwards instead of forward. SAD.
