You can get the rubber waterproof toggle switch covers that fit right over the switch and thread down on it. I have a few around here somewhere. I need to put a new one at my motor. It’s not on the motor but beside it and the switch is junk.
Helpful video! I want to add an SPDT switch to the engine cowl on my 88 evin 90hp v4. Do you know what color the wires are from the trim on the control handle i should be splicing into? Also which color wire goes to its respective location on a three prong switch you demonstrated with? Thanks!
Ya dang it ! Lol. I’m wondering if he wants a foot switch ? Picked up a couple 35hp Johnson’s with controls for $100 each , there not stuck and no water in the lower but I need to run a leak down and compression tests and check for spark ! How’s sunny California going ? Catching any fish ?
My issue is my Johnson 50hp 1982 the trim and tilt motor is not available and if you find a used one expect paying over four bills to get it, my trim motor and ram mounts off to the side and a bracket is mounted to the motor where the ram attaches to, very difficult to find a solution when the trim and tilt unit mounts outside of the motor and not underneath inside. I have a jury rig now but it is only ip42 rated so first time I try it who knows if it will get water logged.

They Tim’s marine and parts in Hackensack Mn. They usually have that stuff !
Almost any old car electric window switch from a junk yard should also work.
Weather proofing is another thing to consider.
