I use my phone for Multimedia usage and gaming(MKX and Asphalt) on daily basis.My Xperia Z is still running good with a pretty good battery life and the performance is excellent. I've accidentally dropped my phone lot of times ,more than i could remember and yet there is no shattered screen or broken glass. Some of the problems which i face are, 1.Camera: Lack of camera shutter, Autofocus lag and poor low light performance. 2.Speaker: avg performance and 3.Lags under heavy usage. So I'm planing on upgrading to Xperia Z2 and id like to know whether Xperia Z2 would be satisfactory ?
With the price, sturdyness and specifications, I am totally going to buy this phone + a case for it. If it only gets one little scratch I might freak out :D

(I bought a LG G3 instead of this one (because I forgot about this comment :P)) and I have a thick case around it to keep it safe. I clean it pretty often as well. The only problem I have with it is that it's getting really hot when I play a game with it in that case. Luckily I don't play games that much on my phone :p
holy shit. z1 & z2 is much stronger than the original Z which is what I am using for the last 6-7 months! The steel frame does help a lot though. try to do this on any ANY samsung device, you'll ended up chipping the frame and have some massive scuffs on it. well done Sony!

Wow, what a relief this is so durable! Ordering one of these tomorrow. I will still be pairing it up with a case of some sort, cause even scuffs bum me the hell out. Looking at a Tech21 Mesh case, should be pretty indestructible! And their special orange foam/gel stuff should provide enough impact resistance to prevent even that bit of LCD panel damage that happened here. Very excited!
Could you guys please make a point of showing if the phone works after EVERY drop? I would like to see how many drops the failing phones need before they stop working (with specific reference to the Z1 drop test). This test showed the phone's working between tests, which says a lot about the phone, so I'm happy with that.
i have 2 months old unlocked Z1 and i love it..but going to drop it intentionally so that i can get new phone because it comes with 6 month accidental damage warranty.. So, i will get new sealed pack box here in India :-D

my z2 was destroyed too and 3 times... always droped from small hight maybe even under 70cm... first and second time the whole display had cracks and it didn't work... third time it had just a small crack on the sony logo and still the upper edge didn't work... it's really bad that the touch screen stops working just from a small crack... I had HTC One S before and the display had large crack all over it and half of it fell off but the touch screen still worked

I had my Z1 attached to a drone (stupid idea, I know by now) and it fell from 80 meters on a concrete road. While the screen was completely smashed, it even kept recording the video after the fall, which was impressive.
I've drop my z2 so many times on asphalt without a case and it is really surprisingly solid, just got some little attached on the aluminum... if you would drop an iPhone , it would instantly get a broken display and dentings on the phones body

Can attest. Had this phone over 3 years and all I used was a glass screen protector. The corners and sides are scuffed up pretty bad from many drops over those years but the screen and glass never broke.
Obviously, there's a lot of variations of chance going on with these tests, a phone may just spint 45 degrees due to a gust of wind for some reason and it may land on the corner and damage the screen as in the video (dead pixels), and it may not happen if it fell the same way again, or on the other side. Not every phone will be built to exactly the same standards, the quality may vay by 1% from the previous one and that could make all the difference! I'm quite happy to know mine may survive, i do have mine in a cover though!

I love the Xperia Z2 also. But the drop tests can be a bit more standardized by doing the drop tests in one place since the type of material of the floor my make a difference. I am very happy it survived though :)

The side bezels are the protection for the phone. I droped my z2 many times and the only dmg was done was for the bezels
At the end of the test you should use cpu-z (android edition ofcourse) to see if all the sensors are still working.
You should do a drop test on the moto x and moto g and moto e to see which is more durable?
