StanF For the FFT Graphs select Properties > Scales> Log for the frequency axis for a better view of the results. To freeze the wave forms select Integer number of cycles in the Simulate Signal setup panel.
Thanks for the video. I acquired some signals using Labview a while ago and saved them in a text file. Just realized that I need to do further processing like rms conversion, FFT and filtration. How can I create a VI that can read the values of the signal from the text file and display back in labview for further processing?
+Goodness Onwuka Hi Goodness I haven't tried that myself but have a look at this: zone.ni.com/reference/en-XX/help/371361J-01/lvconcepts/reading_waveforms_from_files/ Hope it helps!
Hi! is it possible to make a tutorial about implementing a FIR filter using the windowing method using labview? i can't find anything useful and i'm not very good at labview.i'm wainting your response and i'm very thankful!
I would be very thankful if you could help me in a particular matter. I have a project which requires building a Signal generator, an Oscilloscope and a Spectral Analyzer. I am not going to copy them from somewhere because I really want to learn something by doing this project. However, I can't get my head around signal generation (what do you have to set if you want to change the frequency through a knob, what's the deal with the "samples/second" and "number of samples" that have to be set and so on - I cannot make the connection between them). Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi Gabriel Signal generation is a good staring point. Are you asking for a tutorial on how to implement signal generation by simulation ? Are you using the express VI? samples/second is the amount of samples that the program will take every second of the input analog signal to make it digital. number of samples is the amount of overall samples that will be taken if.
Hi and thank you for your first response. The project I received is not one out of nowhere. In fact, I've been taking a university course on Labview for about 3 months (not a truly intensive one though). What I am trying to do is to generate some signals (sine, triangle, sawtooth etc - 7 totally) for which the user can vary the frequency (through a panel knob). The problem that I have is that, when putting the signal I simulate into a waveform chart, I see either a distorted signal, a DC line or no signal (depending on god knows what). To answer your question: I tried both the Express VIs and the (Sine/Sawtooth etc) Wave VIs with amplitude and frequency given from the user panel, and none of the cases seem to provide the solution I am looking for. What should I do next?
Gabriel Flueran If you look at the first part of the video it shows you how to pace a signal generator. After the express signal generator is paces it will open a configuration window where you can specify attribute about the waveform like type of waveform and sample rate. Try using a graph instead of a chart.
+Gabriel Flueran It's probably pretty late to be answering this but you could always use a mathscript structure and have frequency as a control input to the structure opposed to just using blocks.
Excellent tutorial, nice and to the point. Really found the FFT part help, eventhough its actually really simple once you know how to do it! Thanks
61 thousand engineers passed here. God blesses you all. love you
Best video ever.
Very helpful, Thanks!

Hi Todoran my DSP is a bit rusty but will have a look and see if I can make a tutorial.

Same fast ?!
At 0:03, right hand corner.......Why are you ashamed of Battlefield?? I think you should rather be ashamed of Visual Studio ;)
Hi, I would like to ask if can I have the vi for this? Huhu btw, what’s ur email?
