  • These things are RAPID to Accelerate, with the upper threshold power output enabled. Its hard enough to get S7 Tube stock going at these speeds anywhere else in London. But on the East side!?!?! NO SIR !! THEY ARE FREE AS A BIRD TO BLITZ IT UP TO SPEED.!!
    Also enjoy the super lovely motor/traction drive sounds on these. My personal second favourite to the Alstom Onyx drives on the 95/96 tube stocks!!
    If only Aventras weren't so boring and sounded like the S7/8 tube stocks!! that would be wonderful!!

    I've been wanting to see what the actual fastest the District Line has travelled. I've seen these went over 50 then stopped at 52mph and on another ride to Upminister the fan pitch was higher than the speed it actually hit over 50 i thought it was gonna be 58mph like the Jubilee line I seen one hit 59mph Underground and it was very faster than usual. These have better acceleration in ATO, maybe in the future they might increase the speed limits probably to 58 or something. Thank you for showing the results.

      @@TransportEnthusiast81 it makes no sense how they are geared for 62mph but with the amount of technology that exists, they somehow cant hit those speeds. I personally think stuff should be dont to improve the speed theres tech that limits the trains from over speeding, and the acceleration is fast enough to hit 62mph.
      Also have you traveled in a cab ride before? Also i listen to the motor/fan noise too. It usually indicates if the motor is at a higher speed rpm. And depends on the trai what speed that can indicate.

    As I've had a cab ride on one of these, I have to say, these are very fast to accelerate. Even when the driver is driving it manually, the acceleration is still very good.

    It's about time yoh recorded these trains, you should go on the metropolitan line i think the line can go like 60mph

      They can, but they dont hit that speed often times and dont do it anywhere near as fast, their upper acceleration rate is capped near and after baker street mostly.
      They struggle alot because it seems the power supply hasnt been modified to allow them to hit max acceleration capacity. In that reigion, which is silly if you ask me. They need to ne getting to upgrading that ASAP.😂

    0:10 it got 33 seconds to 50mph and 43 seconds to 55mph. Still slower than a 1995 stock which takes 29-30 seconds to 50mph

      @@Matty12333 many reasons for this. 09 stock is lighter, and as a result the power to weight ratio is better.
      S stocks probably have a relitively lower power to weight ratio, but utilise a surplus of motors. More motors means that power can be given to the motors faster as they are distributed among multiple motors and thus it can take of faster at lower speeds without overloading the motors. However it gets to a point where lower speed acceleration tapers off and the train takes up its max power and continuous acceleration takes over. The continuous acceleration is drawn back a bit because the S stock likely has relitively less power output than a 95 stock. Roughly translated. If the S stock was a smaller train like the 95 stock, it would use less max power than a 95 stock.
      Another factor could be software limits meaning it tapers off its power as per the programming as it hits higher speeds. For the power that they use, the S stocks are pretty good.
      Its also likely that the 09 stock doesent hit 50mph as fast as the S stock, but at lower speed acceleration is just better so it gives off the illusion that its faster to max speed than the S stock when it might not be.
      So far 95 stocks are recorded to be the quickest.

    • @gapthemind--mindthegap8524
      @gapthemind--mindthegap8524  3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Matty12333 id beg to disagree with the 95 vs 96 stock. Its true that The 95 stocks motors enable it to accelerate much better than the 96 stock due having 8 motored bogies with 6 carriages compared to 8 motored bogies with 7 carriages. However theres a decent margin for acceleration. Removing 20 tons of carriage will enable this. 95 stocks actually beats the S stock to 50mph despite the S stock having all wheels motored and better starting acceleration. The 8 motor bogies of the 95 stock enables much better continuous speed than practically all tubes except the 09 stock , which i have no idea how fast it is. 96 stock has good continuous acceleration for what it has. But the advantage of 95 stock is substantial overall.
      One thing ive noticed is that the 95 stock having less carriage to motor ratio means that is can have better protection against wear and tare as the motors have power distributed across 8 motors with 6 carriages instead of bearing excess weight and power. Its likely why 96 stocks tend to have weird motor anomalies from time to time. I could be wrong about the wear and tear theory but yeah.
