I hired one a few days ago with a long drive down to Cornwall, let’s say it’s a awful car very underpowered seriously heavy on fuel as you have to drive very hard to maintain speed especially going up hill it struggles very very badly, the MG ZS radio stopped working within a hour of driving and wouldn’t work for the whole duration being 5 days, apparently it’s a common occurrence after few google searches on the issue with the radio disconnecting on the display screen you can only disconnect battery terminal or firmware updates which can only be done by garage dealership to resolve the problem! So with cruising on the motorway say 65mph the revs required to maintain this speed is 3000+revs only 5 gears on this standard car simply isn’t enough I was actually looking for a 6gear thinking this can’t be correct but no 5 gears and you can smell a very hot over worked engine struggling underneath the bonnet! It’s a very heavy car weight is around 1.6 tonnes with a 1500cc engine you do the maths before you buy it.. Probably the most dangerous thing about this car is it’s very stupid display ( radio navigation and heating ) are integrated all on one display so when driving and you want to adjust the heating you have to take your eyes off the road and fiddle about with the display in order too make adjustment there isn’t a easy way for you to adjust your temperature in car.

no mechanicals buttons for the clima and no cruise control buttons on the steering wheel is a big deal breaker for me.
My partner was looking at this car, terrible reviews from most reviewers, Top gear gave it 5/10….put her off buying one ,
this is a bullshit.
Why didn't she test drive one and come to her own conclusion?

Nigel, this is the 1.0 auto box which has a turbo charged engine and more horsepower
