  • I have owned my Ruger 10/22 for a number of months now, and have been working on building it out to a custom configuration to meet my range needs. With Vortex, Magpul, Weaver, and NDZ Performance parts upgrades this now performs exactly as I had hoped. Fun, safe, affordable, and very enjoyable...this rifle is a great option for any firearms enthusiast. In this video I discuss each of the parts as well as my general feelings about the 10/22 after a fair amount of range time and some reasonable experience.

I really like your thought process of waiting to upgrade. I just purchased a 10/22 takedown and want to appreciate future upgrades. It’s like taking time to learn the rifle, understanding its capabilities, and one’s proficiency with it.

@@Law260 exactly! See what it can do in the stock configuration to appreciate the money spent on the upgrades. Assuming the upgrades improve performance...haha!

Lol, every new 10-22 owner has the same learning experience when putting the bolt back in after cleaning. It will get easier with practice.

Winchester hollow points always make my .22 struggle but I love the ping they make haha

I had the same issue with mine not seating rounds causing jams and I went to the Kidd website and ordered one of their plungers to replace the factory one and now it doesn't miss a beat on any ammo I throw in it. The factory plunger doesn't hold the magazine tight enough and the Kidd plunger is a little more pronounced and smoother holding the mag where it needs to be.

I had original issues when using hollow point but the ball ammo has been much more reliable. I know some upgrades will definitely help...

2:00 Why not shoulder the rifle? Does the recoil hurt too much? Why not lower the bipod and stabilize the buttstock with the support hand? Is it more exciting not knowing if the target will be hit?

I don't think hitting the target was an issue. Yes recoil is so light I was just a comfortable distance while sitting... I had missing spacers in the butt stock from having my kids shooting with me and I hadn't replaced them yet. So I was the proper distance from the scope and comfortable length of pull... So that wasn't a big deal at the moment I guess?
