have never seen professional taper use these....if it needs to be done quick they use rapid setting mud and tape both sides....scrape out lil buggers on sand coat
On an outside corner, no tape -- the corner bead is all that's needed. On an inside corner, yes you'd want to use tape. Oftentimes paper drywall tape will have a pre-formed crease in the middle so you can easily bend it 90 degrees for an inside corner.
