- This video shows an example of independent drive following sat nav on the driving test.
It uses the TomTom Start 52 sat nav - the same satnav which will be used on UK driving tests from 4th December 2017.
The independent driving section of the driving test will last for 20 minutes. This example video shows the first 5 minutes of a route from Farnborough Test Centre.
I've only shown the first 5 minutes because the point of the video is absolutely NOT to learn the route, but to show you the traps you can fall into if you rely ONLY on the sat nav and how reading all the road signs and road markings becomes EVEN MORE important when following a satnav.
Thank you so much. You're channel is a blessing. You're great, thanks again for helping people like me. LOVE YOU 😄🌼🌼😄
Thank you so much so important really helpful
I had my test today and the examiner did not put the sat nav he said its their choice of mix n match on independent driving so it came to me as the worst surprise ever!
Very informative! Great work!
I have done my test twice with old version and now I am doing it with new one.
Gotta good experience so far by lessons and actual tests!
Any advice for me regarding new test version please?

I think that the examiners sat nav will NOT show the speed limits...
I've had it confirmed by DVSA today that the speed limit WILL be displayed and this feature cannot be turned off on the Start 52.
Audible speed warning alerts will be turned off but the speed limit will be displayed as shown in my video.
It will be displayed but you have to remember it may not be accurate. You will need to follow speed limits on the signs and not the Sat nav.
Absolutely, and that is the point I make in the video.
thanks it was very useful
