G'day Paul, what a great way too fix to much pressure on the gearbox if no valve fitted, my Royal Enfield Bullet 500 has a 5 gear box and l will check if it has a breather or not, don't think mine is leaking nothing in the drip pan, that bikes tight as a drum, cheers mate, Neil 🤠.
Hi paul i drilled a hole and silver soldered a small copper pipe on mine a and a piece of small dia rubber tube that goes up the frame it works no more leak's from the sprocket side.just goes to show great mind's think alike.
I did similar thing with my 350. The g.box case castings were so poor they were porous. A generous breather and Indian grease trick solved this oil leak.
A friend of mine used to stick his finger into these oil spots, probed the finger with his tongue and thus could tell gearbox from engine/clutch oil. Hmm. By the way: the Electra 5speed gearbox will leak oil when the sprocket nut gets loose, enabling an oil path in between drive shaft and the sprocket distance sleeve.
They have a little notch at the front top of the gearbox end cover, but they are easy to block with sealant, so a pin hole in the filler plug might work under such circumstances.
My mech here in India showed me this little trick and I've done it to all my bullets. Feels good to know the gearbox is breathing!
Typically well thought out and executed modification from the Master.

You're a very talented man Paul , I bet you will be pleased when Connie goes home 😂
Thanks!
Like Pete from "Just a few acres farm" I think Paul's happy to see the pigs go to the market.
That's another one I hadn't thought of. I don't own a Royal Enfield but it could easily apply to other marques. I'll have to keep it in mind.
I never thought of that!! Thanks.

Good work.

Great tip, thanks
Thanks Paul.
Nice tip.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Aw, l thought he was going to say 'use grease'😮
Could that also apply to a Crusader 250?

You weren't going fast enough to make it leak, you only did 80mph lol
