      Alonso needs to go back to Indycar and try to get the triple crown. He’s keeping Yuki out of a job at Aston Martin. Ricciardo & Max. They win the championship. Ricciardo after 2025? Maybe not. But RBR have others in the system. Oh, and by the way, Yuki is only doing what he’s doing because of Ricciardo.

    • @SaturnL200
      @SaturnL200 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @richardwood9177 mate, just because he's old doesn't mean he shouldn't be in Formula One. He's not the one "taking away a seat," that would be Lance Stroll. As the last season's results show, Alonso is still a fast and capable driver deserving of a seat in Formula One, while Lance Stroll is kept in the sport against the wishes of sponsors due to the wishes of his father, the main investor within Aston Martin.
      In the case of the Triple Crown, I don't feel he desires to go for it anymore, dissuaded after another McLaren-Honda failure.
      In the case of Riccardo, I doubt he will return to Red Bull, due to his failure to be a reliable and consistent driver who can be trusted to deliver. It is solely his popularity and sponsors keeping him in the sport. I feel that another driver can possibly replace Checo and do better, and I'm sure Red Bull feel the same.

      @richardwood9177 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SaturnL200 I respect people’s opinions so we can agree to disagree. Not saying Alonso is old. Just older. I think most people would see the Lance situation the way you do. My point about Yuki is this. Honda will want its driver. With Lance wrapped in cotton wool, Fernando could be on the block. And I think he still wants the triple crown.
      And Ricciardo. He’s a better bet than Perez. Don’t forget that when he did his test at Silverstone last year he clocked a time good enough for pole. He’s still quick but admittedly he’s made some bad career choices. Horner still loves him and that’s all that matters.

      @claudiafernandes1150 I think Yuki is better off as either a VCARB lead driver or a lead driver for a non-Red Bull team like Aston Martin or Haas.
      He's headstrong, aggressive, and a bit of a risk taker. You don't put a guy like him as a #2 driver, lest you end up with a Hamilton-Rosberg or a Gasly-Ocon situation.
      Putting him and Max together in Red Bull would get them points...but could also end up ugly if Horner doesn't instill order, especially since both Max and Yuki are very aggressive and hot-tempered. Why do you think both of them spout a lot of F-Bombs in the radio?
      I think the best teammate for Yuki is someone chill or fun. VCARB did it right by pairing him with the chill Gasly, and later on the jolly Danny Ric.

    Perez is stuck in a dilemma coz the car is being developed around max making it similar to brawn situation back 2009 where Barrichello was losing as the car was modified for Button now coming Yuki in Red Bull with max is out of the question Yuki is still not mature enough to handle the pressure being one sided dominated by max and competition between teammates is one of the spirit of F1 someone older like Riccardo can fill the space temporarily

      That's not how car development happens. Cars are not developed according to a driver. That's impossible and a good recipe for making a slow car. The setup of the car can be made to a driver'd preference. This may be were Redbull shows preference to Max by doing WAY more simulations getting setups perfected for Max's driving style.

    The biggest problem with putting anybody except ricciardo in that seat is the threat they would pose to max -- NOT TO SAY THEY WOULD WIN! Yuki would likely want to compete for race wins (as he should), but RB wouldn't want to threaten max from within the team. Same goes for Lawson and Sainz - or any other driver for that matter; if he starts performing great, what're they gonna do in 2 years, just boot him to some other team/junior team so max is safe? Danny gives the team enough points for the constructors while also not making enough points to scare max, and while nobody thinks about it, Max is the only driver redbull wants winning.

    • @F-Duck1
      @F-Duck1  หลายเดือนก่อน

      I agree, but then there’s the issue of max leaving, they would at least want their next big winner already well settled at Red Bull like how max was in 2016 and 2017 before being really established in 2018.

    I think Yuki is not ready to deal with a team like Red Bull, which is completely set up around Verstappen, builds car to suit MV's driving style and which does not provide a lot of support for its Number 2 drivers. He is however only a year or two away from developing what is needed and it would be a shame to have invested so much in him just to rush it unnecessarily.
    Unfortunately DR3 no longer has the consistency to be at Red Bull. They don't need him to turn up and put in an amazing, potentially race winning performance every 3 or 4 races, they need someone who can consistently qualify close to MV and bring the car home with a podium position and be there or there abouts in case MV crashes or breaks down. If we were in the era of unlimited testing I would strongly favour DR3 as his experience and car control would undoubtedly be beneficial for the 26 new engine supplier and would be perfect for continuity from Honda to RBPT/Ford. But with so little testing this is less of an advantage in his favour.
    Carlos Sainz does not get on with MV and his father is a far more influential and connected figure in motorsport, particularly with Ford, than Jos Verstappen and he could easily play politics behind the scene upsetting the team making MV unhappy. They already have a top 3 driver in MV they do not need to anything to upset him.
    Ideally they want an experienced driver who is a compliant team mate, so that if MV goes to Mercedes they have someone who can support and take some pressure off Yuki or Lawson in the hot seat.
    Putting Yuki in the seat is risking his long term Red Bull career for short term gain. Unless the decision is that Liam Lawson is the future then putting Yuki in the seat for 2 years and putting Lawson and Riccardo at VCARB (DR3 will provide a decent benchmark for Lawson to match his performance against) but Yuki will likely not have a future with the team, nor want to stay at Red Bull
    Ideally though Red Bull should have signed Hulkenberg for 25 and 26 and signed Yuki and Lawson for VCARB. DR3 would then have had time to negotiate with Alpine, Williams and HAAS for next year. In Hulkenberg's absence, I would sign Bottas for a 1+1 deal. He has proven he is a reliable number 2 driver, he is at the end of his career so he won't care about trying to match MV and a long term commercial relationship with Red Bull post his driving career will encourage him to toe the line. On his day DR3 is definitely faster than Bottas but his day is happening less consistently and Bottas will bring the Red Bull home in the points, will do some of the sponsorship work and will not rock the boat. If MV leaves you have a reliable driver for testing and development and his presence will not make top drivers question going to Red Bull to replace MV.
    Put Yuki and Lawson in VCARB and let them compete for two years and, as I suspect will happen, Yuki will refine his killer instinct. If not Lawson is hardly a slouch.

    obviously Sainz is the best choice from a skills perspective, but from a politics/team harmony perspective we know it’s just never gonna work.
    Yuki is obviously more deserving than both Lawson and DR but it’s baffling how badly Red Bull are ignoring his efforts. It’s probably gonna end up being DR because Horner calls the shots, not Marko.

    I must be the only person reading the tea leaves....... right now it is 5 into 4, my guess is Max is going and they dont want to be left short...... I tip Sainz and Riccardo in RB next year a popular pair and two of the most consistent on the grid. Danny may only be a seat warmer, until they can get the next new thing in. I would think Checo is toast, and Liam and Yuki are VCARB, knowing that Yuki may well end up at Aston Martin and then VCARD will be back to rookies. So is the way of the force, the big question is will RB stay competitive with in house motors and no Newey...... No point in paying big $$$ for drivers if you are not competitive. Dani is popular in AMerica and TV so I see him staying around I think will be quick back in a RB

      If Max leaves at end of '24 Sainz and Ricciardo would be a smart choice to handle the transition to 26 regulations and would be commercially popular. Plus Carlos' connections with Ford through his father would be beneficial for breaking through Ford corporate politics.

    guarantee if Sainz was offered the Red Bull seat he would make his decision very quickly cause it’s a much better option/car than any of his other prospects. I think Sainz is waiting to see what Mercedes and now Red Bull end up doing and that’s why he keeps postponing his decision. it’s also worth noting that usually by now driver seats wouldn’t be confirmed anyways, Lewis announcing his Ferrari seat in February kicked things off a lot earlier than normal and so everyone has been expecting answers sooner. usually a lot of decision making and announcements come after the summer break so, imo, everyone can chill a while longer cause Sainz is trying to make a huge career decision with potentially only 💩 options if nothing happens with Red Bull or Mercedes.

    He impressed at his debut race in tricky conditions on a difficult track (Zandvoort) and the moment he kicked double world champion Max out of Q3 in Singapore was the moment a famous one-eyed 80 plus year old got a silent ejaculation for sure.
    This comparison with past Red Bull drivers Albon and Gasly is unjustified. Different personalities, Lawson is championship material.

      @@F-Duck1 I agree, especially with the last part.
      Since Mateschitz's death there seems to be a clear change in company direction at Red Bull, with more focus on commercial factors than pure driving skills alone.
      Red Bull as a brand really is of
      Extreme
      Young
      Active & adventurous
      And Ricciardo and Pérez do not fit this profile (anymore), Lawson clearly does and seems more mature and level headed than Tsunoda who clearly wasn't their candidate, else he'd been in that seat long ago.
      For 2025 I'd like to see Max & Lawson at the main team and Yuki and hopefully Hadjar at their junior team, but we shall see... thanks for your reactions, you do engage nicely with your audience!
