Although I am too old (83) & too crippled to do historical treks, I still have all my gear & dream about it daily! Until multiple surgeries got the best of me, I participated in Pioneer Days at Ft. Toulouse-Jackosn in Wetumpka, AL; David Crockett Days in Lawrenceburg, TN; & in the annual re-enactment of the March to King's Mountain (1780) which traversed 4 states: VA; Eastern TN; Western NC:; & SC, ending at King's Mountain National Battlefield. I have done limited French & India events at Ft. Loudon, TN. Much of my gear is similar to that which was used around your camp fire. I love muzzleloaders, especially flintlocks. Keep the videos coming so that I can enjoy them from my home. Thank you & may God bless you! To God be the glory!

Thank you sir! Much of what we do today is built on the shoulders of men like you who helped keep this alive in the 1970s and 80s.

I forgot to add that I also participated in several of the Southeastern Primitive Rendezvous 2002- 2012. Perhpas that is why some of you look familiar. I am confident that we might have crossed paths somewhere along the trail! Did any of you know the gunbuilder Roger Byers (now decades) of his son Clint Byers who does beautiful horn & leather work? I think that they were from NC.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. It’s always good to meet a fellow traveler. I’m sure you have crossed paths (and possibly shared a campfire) with more than one of us on more than one occasion.
Just FYI- I am Clint Byers. Roger was my dad. Thank you for the compliment on my horn work. Dad loved history and blackpowder. He passed that love on to me and I hope I can honor him by carrying it forward.

@@hornandfiber4523 Clint, I deeply appreciate your gracious response. Your Dad was one of my best friends on the March to King's Mountain; & remember seeing both of you several times at the McDowell House in Morganton, NC. Please forgive my memory lapse; I am getting older, & my wife & I both have health issues. I share your grief because I lost both my parents last year only 8 months apart. They were 101 & 102 years old. Although unlikely, if my wife & I can be blessed with better health, we would love to see old friends on the Trail one more time before going to the place the Lord has prepared for us. Thanks again for your reply; & may God bless you & yours! I'll try to stay in touch occasionally on your TH-cam channel. Have a blessed Thanksgiving & Christmas! To God be the glory! FYI My iwfe & I still live in N.E. Alabama.
