On the A2 (at least on the ones exported to Finland) the picatinny rail is permanently bolted to the receiver. It's some kind of a pin just hammered in place. You can't grab it with any tool and it has only got a cylinder-shaped dent on top of it. And there's a lot of glue to keep it from moving.
@corpsman, yes, open bolt push the button next to the gas block and twist the barrel and take it out, that said all barrels are headspaced to thier own bolt head like AR platform
Actually, you have to lock the bolt back before taking the barrel out. The animation missed that step. But yeah, just lock the bolt back, push the button/lever behind the vertical grip, twist it clockwise and it slides out.
gunfreak306 no i was in the austrian army ,who 1977 the first land in the world use this rifle i live 45 minuts away from "steyer Mannlicher" the first was a1 Military the second a2 with a ris rail and sometimes shorter Barrel the use this gun for the Police Special Forces called cobra like the s.w.a.t in america, its one of the best assault rifle in the world easy to clean its never goes to hot and you can use it in the desert and in the snow with no Problems it have the Barrel lenght of an m16 by the size of a machine pistol it have no many metal parts only the Barrel and the sight the Body is made of a Spezial plasticmaterial so its realy a light weight. and its not have a switchcontrol for single shot and Auto it knows how you would shoot . aug z was the zivil Version but its suck you cant Change the Barrel to a other and put no silencer on it. greetings from austria
The A1 has an integrated 1.5x telescopic sight...the sight on the A2 can be replaced with an picatinny rail. The civilian version is called AUG-Z (Z=Zivil=civilian)...neither the A1 nor the A2 is accessible for civilians. The Austrian Army (Bundesheer) uses the AUG A1, in Austria also known as Stg.77 A1...only the Jagdkommando and the Jägerbataillon 25 uses the AUG/Stg.77 A2 Commando aka A3 SF.
I see battery color resembles Duracells....NEVER use those lame batteries. You will see that they LEAK all the time now. I've lost over $500 worth of equipment because of leaks. And it's NOT from long term storage. Like a couple months!!!
um so for people who DONT know how to disassemble and reassemble this shows them nothing. no information on where the plugs are to push in or how the parts come loose to take off. bad video
Nick 'Dutchie' not a bad vídeo. If you want to know how to Disassembly, dowload the Game, it's free. This vídeo shows a little bit What you can do in the videogame.

That doesn't show the gas driven rod on the right side in operation.
