This was probably the absolute best informational video on how to do this. It made me feel far more confident to do my own. And I've watched a shitoad of videos. Thank you
ive been following your channel for a year or 2 now ,ive been painting 25 years and i gotta say your the man,,,ive picked up so many tips from you its unreal,,keep up the good work man your vids are always a pleasure to watch..great work from idaho
Just found you on YT and I'm absolutely loving all the videos!!! The more info and tips/tricks the better. I'd rather watch an hour long video that explains everything than a five minute time lapsed video of someone just working. Your doing great buddy!!
Good work bro. We doing waterproofing coating on the top deck garage. This type of work we gotta bang this job really fast. Thanks for the videos. I enjoy watching your work.
I recently painted 3bus depot wash bays 30 feet high block walls as per architects specks. Went thru approx 40 five gal paint buckets and had to mix all one gal cans did I mention they wanted 3 coats including 2 coats block filler big Job. Expensive!because that is the only way they sell the two part epoxy good for Sherwin not so go for the painter Great smell too !Sprayed it thru an 840titan paint sprayer. You can actually use this product for structural steel as well. very expensive product. But is hard as steal! Great videos.
We do as well. This Job had very high water use and required we were required to spray all structural steel with. 2part epoxy. Ps would love to come to Idaho for a week one summer and work with your crew as a learning opportunity. Ps I love the added scripture vs you add to your video we share that in common.
Hi mate I use a similar products in Australia and when I spill epoxy coating or get a footprint on a driveway I use a product called peelaway 8 it can remove up to 12 layers of epoxy it may be of interest to you cheers 👍
Hi Chris, I'm redoing my garage floor using your videos. I will probably use a diamond sander because my doors are sealed shut and I don't have an opening to release the water from the acid etching. My question is this, can I use a primer instead of an epoxy coat that's been diluted with paint thinner? Someone recommended Bulls Eye 1-2-3 Primer. This will be a high traffic area with a lot of heavy equipment being moved around.
Did you turn off the pilots on those gas water heaters and does and I was always told by Sherwin Willams that Tile Clad wasn’t strong enough to park a car on because of hot tire pick up.
Nice finish, looking forward to the next vid's. What would you use if the floor had some pitting in it, such as in the garage of an older house. I've thought of screeding an epoxy mixture (thicker than pain), using thinset, using body filler, but am not sure what the most durable process would be. Thanks.
Hi Idaho!, great stuff. 1st time garage painter. It turned out great, 3coats & flakes. Used H&C concreteSealersolid, solventbased. What sealer should I use? Thanks God Bless
Great videos, I learnd a lot! I'm getting ready to do my garage floor and I have a question. If my floor is already sealed I'm assuming the epoxy won't soak in and the only way to get it to soak in would be to sand the floor correct?
Would you please go over what materials you are using to epoxy the floor. I was unable to get them from your video. I found the caulk but the color and the clear I am unclear on what to use. Thanks.
Quick question bossman, if I use the rustoleum solvent based epoxy, should I add the thinner to the first coat, like you did with the industrial grade epoxy?
hey Idaho painting nice work! have a question, is there an specific thinner and a secifict type of roller for pebble rock epoxy (binder) i bought a EkoFlo binder and I'm trying to recoat pebble patio any ideas? need help!!!!!!
Hi Chris. I see you're using a 1/4" roller nap. Is it ok to use 3/8" instead? I used a 3/8" nap for the first two coats. Should/can I switch to a 1/4" nap for the clear coats? Your videos are awesome btw!
@deadend Going twice as fast is even more important for a "pro". With your logic, you could also use a 4" mini-roller. Why not use the best tool for the job?
@deadend I've etched and epoxyed about 75 garage floors. I would consider myself a pro, and I use an 18" roller every time. You can do it however you want, but I still cannot comprehend why you wouldn't use an 18" roller. If you have a good explanation I'm open to it!
I bought the 8100 Sherwin Willams Armor Seal. My Part A hardener came in (quarts) and my Part B came in a (Gallon). How much Reducer 54 should I add in this scenario? I noticed your Part A and B were both Gallons. Thank you Sir!
thank you for the videos on garage floors...question ! Can a sealer be applied first ? I was told that a product called Kleer-Kote 7.5% sealing compound could be used. thank you
Thanks again , but what I am trying to do is stop melted snow from the car to seep into the cement which raises the humidity level in the garage in the winter. There is a drain in the center of the floor but all that water does accumilate around the edges. Do I have to lay down an epoxy finish or can I just seal the concret to get the water to not soak into the floor and drain more efficiently. ?
Yes I am aware that an epoxy finish will create a waterproof barrier ...but...my question was about a sealer . Can I just seal the concret to get the water to not soak into the floor and drain more efficiently. ?
polyaspartics are definitely the way to go. They do require trained professionals to install but we offer lifetime warranty on all our polyaspartics. Do you offer lifetime warranties on your floors?
everyone is saying not to add water to acid...is it then 100% safe to rinse the acid on the floor with water while trying to remove the acid from the floor?
I used a polyurethane caulk for my garage joints and it has skinned over and is pretty hard to the touch (not tacky anymore) but says 7 days to cure. I'm at 2 days now. Am I ok to epoxy over it or does it need the air exposure to cure? I used Loctite S20 . Great videos.
Because of new air laws the voc regulations most places are doing away with this Tile clad HS epoxy. The complaint products are now Armorseal 650 SL/RC (3:1) Gloss, Macro Epoxy (1:1) semi-gloss, and Armorseal 8100 ((4:1) in Gloss and Satin.
Yup just used both macropoxy and armor seal this weekend. The painers union companies have been using macropoxy on tanks and bridges for at least 15 years.
Hello Chris, I've watched most of your videos twice. My brother in law bought me epoxy garage floor pant with flakes for a house warming gift. I did etching with the acid and a ton of grime came out. I've also pressure washed the floor. I think I need to acid wash again, but I have two questions for you. What do you use for paint removal? I'm having a hell of a time removing the paint spill (old home, but new to me). And, should I use an epoxy primer? Or is your epoxy + 10% thinner the best option?
primer isn't going to give you any more bite into the actual surface like acid will. If you want the best results it's best to use some sort of abrasive to ensure a better end result
Acid wash is just as efficient on floors that are in good shape when done properly, unless you're getting $8+ per sqft for your chipped epoxy floor grinding is just not an affordable option for 98% of homeowners. I've been doing this for 30+ years and my epoxy floors are bullet proof at a reasonable cost.
@@Idahopainter Thanks So much for the reply! one last thing what the name of the clear coat you r using? SW says the Armorseal is white base! Thanks again for the knowledge
Sorry to be harsh I've specialized in high end decorative concrete coatings for a little over 10 years now. Your methods are great for do-it-yourselfers but I would never pay more than $1.50 a square ft to have those systems installed by a "professional." I have a garage floor company in Florida, and we work with the best products on the market. Generally people call us after they've paid someone a lot of money to install water based systems or epoxy systems that discolor, peel, and/or leave hot tire marks. I know very little about painting, or carpentry, or landscaping etc but when it comes to concrete coatings I know a lot and learning more everyday. Your system is not bad for a DIY though!
+The Idaho Painter I guess it wouldn't bug me as much if you'd explain in the video that your method is the easy, user friendly way to do it and there are better methods and better products for ensuring a permanent bonds, except those methods and products require professional installers. Again, not trying to sound arrogant im not sure if you've ever worked with polyaspartics but once mixed you get 5-10 minutes working time. The upside is they are non yellowing, they have 4x the abrasion and impact resistance of epoxy, the entire 4 coat system can be done in 1 day, you can walk on the floor an hour after you finish, and most manufactured guarantee the materials to never peel for life. That's the reason I don't promote lesser products, although they are less expensive and I could make a lot more money using them due to my material costs being 5x less, I know deep down there are better products on the market and I don't want to spend my life working with anything less than the best.

Professional question, is the reducer 54# necessary when mixing epoxy on a 6x12 concrete floor????
What is difference between Tile-Clad HS and the H&C Shield-Crete Water-Based Epoxy Garage Floor Coating kit that Sherwin sells? Thnx

Reynier Martinez Tile-Clad HS Epoxy from Sherwin Williams. Rex #: B62WZ111 (probably.. there’s different bases for different colors)
