I like the pink one the best. It looks like a flower blooming. I think the satin stitch around the edges helped make the look.
I think so too! Thank you😁
I think I could give this a go. I could use a small basket for my sewing room. It doesn’t have to be perfect, just useful ❤👍
My thoughts exactly Elayne😁
I love this project 🤗
I definitely will give it a go! You are a GOOD teacher, thank you for this class.🙏🏾👌🏽😘
You are so welcome Astrid. Thank you 😊
I loved your explanation of how to draft the hexi pattern. I will not be making the basket. Too much work for this lazy sewer but enjoyed watching you. Also, I really like your concise explanations in your videos.
Thanks so much Linda 😀
Hi Christine. I am currently in the process of making a woven basket pattern I purchased that is the same concept as the pattern you have created here, but a little more involved (more arms = more weaving = more zig zag stitching).
I am happy to see you are sharing, in great detail 😊, how we can make our own pattern for the adorable hexagon bowl you have designed here! It is perfect & I am excited to say I will soon be giving your pattern a go! I want to thank you for also sharing what you would do better as it helps your viewers in their future hexi bowl sewing project. Love that your bowl is only 6 rounded petals & offer storage as well. Very clever Christine! 😊Thank you for sharing! ❤
Thanks Vanessa. I think I picked up this year from one of those sites selling the templates😁
Thank you so much!
Ooohhhh I absolutely LOVE working with hexagons! This is super, Christine! Thanks!
You are so welcome Christine. I love hexagons as well😊
Thank you so much for your video. I will definitely try these baskets. Ms. Christine, I love how you show your imperfections as well. I think your baskets are beautiful but I completely understand you wanting to do your best job. Keep up the good work.
Thank you so much!😀
Thank you again so much,I ordered the patterns last year but I couldn’t use them because they didn’t have any directions, for what I paid I couldn’t believe it, now I can use them, thank you.❤
You are so welcome! I saw the template advertised, and just had to make it😀
A fantastic project once again Christine, perhaps using pinking shears would have allowed the curves to be more consistent. I love the concept and hope to try making a basket. Many thanks for sharing the pattern , tips and flaws.
That's a Great idea Jess 😀

I have never seen a round ruler (like the one you used in this video) before. The ones sold here are only half of a circle. I have wondered how to draw a hexagon myself that was perfect (in any size I want). You just showed us how to do that. I may try making one on a cold day when school is out. It would be a wonderful snow day project. I have been putting some kits together for future locked in sewing. This would be a good one.
I hadn't seen them either Arvetta. This one turned up in a deceased estate clean out, then the other day I scored another one for the shop😁
If you have an equilateral (60 degree) ruler, you can use that. The hexagon is six wedges (with shared sides) from the triangle ruler. It works just like the 6 wedge kaleidescope quilt.
Lovely project. When my project does my head in. I screw it up and throw it to the other side of the room. Get up have a cuppa and have another go later..😊
Haha. I couldn't screw this one up Janet (it was too stiff!!). Because of the pink one, I did toss it in a corner for over a month before deciding to finish the video. I have another machine I can use, so hope to finish it soon😀
It’s so cute I really like the watermelon and poke a dots together, thank you
Thanks Cynthia😀
This is a great tutorial. Thank you. I’ve saved this video so I can come back to it when I’m ready to give this a go!, ♥️
Sounds like a great idea Leilani😀
Just a suggestion maybe a straight stitch on the small one and pink the edges.
That's a great idea Karen. Thank you 😊
Great project! It will take me some time to get to it! I miss seeing the rock and roll dresses!
Thanks Loraine. I miss wearing them😊
Very helpful explaining how to draft a pattern for these hexi bowls, also how to assemble the arms. I think you could hand stitch blanket stitch along the top curves, as a decorative feature without continuing along the complete arm length. If you wanted a deeper bowl, could you extend the arm measurement by an inch ? Or would that ruin the design ? Love the outer pink fabric, on the smaller bowl, hope you persevered and it finished nicely.
Thanks Fiona. Yes, I think you could extend the arms to make it taller, and blanket stitching is a great idea😀
I’ve seen templates for purchase for these types of baskets and thought they were really cute, but rarely purchase patterns as that cuts into my profits (and I’m chea….er….frugal😉) I’ve thought about trying to make a template myself, now you’ve shown me the way. I’m wondering how this might work with upholstery fabric? Let us know if you give that a go.
As always, thanks Christine for another great video.
Cathy from Nevada ❤
haha, I can relate to being frugal Cathy. I'm downright tight!! I love seeing these templates come up for sale on Facebook, then try to work out how they've been made. I don't like wasting my funds on those things either😁
Oh well done. Thanks for a lovely video. Particularly helpful was showing how to draft the template.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you😀
Thank you
Thanks Cynthia😁
Thank you so much for making the process less frighting.
You are so welcome Cheryl😁
Those bowls are so pretty. Thank you😊
Thanks Janet😊
Really enjoyed the drafting segment. Prototypes need not be perfect. This was interesting. Years ago when making fabric bowls I zigzagged around the edge more than once - looked “bound” and very neat after 3 times around. Thanks, Christine, for another interesting show!
This is cool but I’m going to do the other one you mentioned. Thank you.
I think I'll need to go around it a few times too Cyn😊
Thanks! You are so creative & kind to share your talent ❤️
Thank you so much Carol. That's go kind of you😊
Thank you for sharing your God-given talent. You have inspired me so much. I'm a retired medical researcher, and not I'm trying to go back to my first love (creating, embroidery, and sewing). I have moved to another city and am trying to start a business. Thanks again for all you do. May God bless you and your business.
@patwescott6557 thank you Pat, and all the best for your new business 😀
Thanks Christine lovely pouches think i will have a go at making one
Have fun Pamela. I'm hoping to finish the other one soon too😀
Another great idea! You teach so well even I understood it. But I think I’ll stick with the other little bowl.😊⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ but I will give it a try.
haha, I like the other one better too Debbie😀
That’s a lovely bowl, going to have ago at making some, thanks for sharing
Have fun Eve. Thank you 😊
Those are are sooo cute! One day I will make time to attempt this project.
Add it to the list Wendy 😀
Another great video from you. I look forward to all your tips and tricks.
I do have a tip for you though. Instead of hand sewing the buttons, set your zigzag width to fit the buttons holes ( most buttonholes are a standard width apart) and set the length to almost 0. Similar to a satin stitch. Check your domestic machine to see if it has a buttonhole stitch ( many have some sort of buttonhole stitch or attachment) then the machine will "knot" the end or leave long tails to knot when done stitching. Once you set it up, sewing on those buttons will go so fast you'll wonder why you ever hand sew buttons to your projects.
Look forward to how you resurrect that pink basket.
Great tip Colleen. My industrial is straight stitch only, and the Janome decided to skip stitches on me😁
Once again I'm in AHHHH, you are so creative. I would also be up for some smaller projects for the stiffer batting. I make filters for a water catchment company (we are all on wells or cisterns) and I take a 36" square and cut out darts to make a coffee filter like shape, hence, I have lots of pieces that I can't bare to throw away. I have been making wristlet key fobs buttttt, I have made over 600 filters this year sooo. I do however, take some of them and butt them together and fuse a strip of light/med weight interfacing on it to hold them together and it does work as well as using fusible bond to make it fuse to the fabrics. Great way to use up the scraps. Keep them coming.😄
Thanks Judi. How do the key fobs go for you? I've only made a few so far😁
I'm thinking fabric glue for the buttons, since they are decorative only. The small one, possibly use the 2 sided fusible and as someone suggested the edge stitch, then the fabric glue for the buttons and the petals. Fun project, thanks
That's a really good idea Carylanne😁
Can snaps replace the buttons to allow the basket to lay flat when not in use?
That's a good idea Susan. Certainly worth a try😀
So gorgeous. From your paper pattern, I thought the petals were going to be bent outwards. But I think the stiffening would make it difficult I suppose.
I played around with the petals leaning outward, but they didn't sit very well for me Ern😁
This was a great idea you are too hard on yourself!😃
Thanks Jenice😊
I have a hexagon ruler. Can I use that when making my pattern? Love your videos.
Yes you can! You can make this in any size you like😊
Can you make bigger arms so that you can have a taller basket?
I think you could Shirley. You could enlarge the hexagon to make the round larger too😁
I don't see the link for the flat top hexagon basket. Did I misunderstand? Did I not look at the right link? I prefer the flat topped one better.
Thanks Sheila. I've put the link in the description. Here's the video th-cam.com/video/0eDtkx6IEvY/w-d-xo.html 😊
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs thank you so much❤️
Why, when you're sewing them together, do you go all the way across to the arm on the other side, instead of turning at the point of the V, thus not sewing across the middle?
Does it matter about the middle?
I've had a look at the video, but I'm not sure which part you mean Patricia. Do you have a time stamp for the video?😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs No, no time stamp, but I will watch again so I can find that. Thanks.
Happy 4th of July.
Could this idea…become a bowl holder for the microwave…?
It could Velma, but might be too much work. There are many easier methods😀
@@ChristinesHomeAffairs I just love the look of the “baskets”…!
I just cannot get this right when I try to bring the flaps together it's driving me mad it just dosent sit right 😢😢😢
Not sure what's happening Catherine. Have you got the tentacles in opposite directions?
I love your teaching skills. And your projects. But this project is too much for me.But I like to watch you do it. It’s cute though.I hate the fast speed .
Thanks Lucille. Sorry it was too fast😊
You can click on the top right hand corner of the screen. You’ll bring up a gears symbol. Click on that and you can adjust the playback speed. If it’s too slow in some spots as you’re viewing the video, you can do a quick tap at the Right Hand edge of the playback screen to Fast Forwards 10 seconds or so.

Thanks Joy😊
A math moron, even I can understand your directions to make the pattern. Thank you, I’m subscribed! PS. You made a mistake cutting too close to the curve! You admitted it and showed us the mistake and how to fix it. Yay! You!
Thanks Helen. I tend to make lots of mistakes. Sometimes I even learn from them! Welcome to the channel😁
