AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movie Quotes (Musical Montage)

- This is a musical montage I put together based on AFI's 100 Years, 100 Movies Quotes. The list was made in 2005 and was first aired on CBS as a special to commemorate the 100 greatest quotes as voted by 1500 critics, artists, and historians. The montage has all 100 quotes including the one I added from It's a Wonderful Life (101 total). It also has Bette Davis' "What a dump" quote, which I was missing in both previous montages.
Here are the films used in the order they are shown. Note that some are repeated and are not listed more than once.

One of the best all time movie quotes that NEVER makes these lists is:
"I call that bold talk from a one eyed fat man" - Ned Pepper
"Fill your hand you sonofabitch!"- Rooster Cogburn
One of my all time favorites, too! Jeff Bridges was astonishingly good as Rooster.
Wow, these bring chills to my spine! And right off the bat it proves that she didn't say "play it AGAIN Sam".....one of the most misquoted lines in the English language!
Love how some of these memorable lines were unscripted or improvised-
DeNiro (Taxi Driver), Bogart (Casablanca), Dustin Hoffman (Midnight Cowboy), Murray (Caddyshack), Nicholson (The Shining). Great video. Thank you.
I can't tell you how many times I said, "Oh! So that's where that line comes from" while watching this. :)

It's amazing how memories rush back as you see these quotes.

My favorites on this list are the ones by Brando and Bogey. "Here's lookin at you kid", "I coulda been a contender", "We'll always have Paris", "I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse". No matter how many times I hear them, they always have the same affect on me.
Not sure I would agree as the top 100 but that doesn't matter. It is that each brought back memories of each movie.
This is awesome. I remember watching this on TV but it's so good to see every single one all together right here online. How could you rate this any less than 5 stars? Great editing too by the way. I have goosebumps now haha this is fantastic. I wish they had "Hold me" "I can't" or "I'm not finished" from Edward Scissorhands on the list though or "I'll be right here" from E.T. but this is a great collection
Missed the line from "Superman" in the flying sequence: "You have me? Who has you?" and "Who framed Roger Rabbit?" "I'm not bad, I'm just drawn that way!" Many more...but these were terrific.
Nice touch of "Dragonheart" music. I love that movie. Especially since it has 007 himself, Sean Connery.
8:34-"you complete me"- that's probably where the joker got that line in the "dark knight".
I Love and recognize every one of these movies. I'm just so happy that we have these works of art to be proud of. : )

Dana Hunter there was a scene where the former anchor man was told that there’s no democrat or republican party. There’s only AT&T’ and rattles off a bunch of other big companies. Couldn’t have that in a movie now.
@@winebox one of my favorite movies--my favorite was near the end where he tells the audience that there is no truth that comes from television.
That was damb entertaining; thank you! I've watched maybe 10 of these movies; recognized at least another 50! So nice to have the quotes in context, with the correct facial expressions. . .

It's much better seeing them in context than reading them on a list! And fun trivia - can you pick out the ones that were ad libbed? At least two of them were....

They cut Duvall's classic short - "I love the smell of napalm in the morning." (the rest:) "It smells like......victory." Great compilation, though!
Napalm is a wonderful thing...rivaled only by white phosphorus.
Everytime I thought it wasnt going to play one of my favourite lines and they did, i raised my fists up in celebration. Two that came to mind -as Im sure theres others naturally- is "We have a blackhawk down" and "Charlie don't surf"

I don't have a complaint about the music. I thought it was low enough that I could hear what everyone was saying. I, especially, liked the
"Mag7" theme song. I was a big fan of the TV series.

This was a great list. It's of movie quotes that we all know. I know some people in the comments complain that it was "...focusing on the glitzy catchphrases like "no more wire hangers" than substantive screenwriting..." but substantive screenwriting doesn't give you memorable quotes. For those looking for more substance look for the AFI 100 Years, 100 Substantive Screenwriting clips.

Seriously, this is one of the best compilations I have seen. The music is well put together and its very well edited. So there's a few epic quotes missing, who the hell cares? Its still an awesome video! I also love the fact that you have a huge range in different generations in film. Simply awesome!
