I like this video and I love these cars but I wish Petrolicious would go back to featuring cars AND the people who own them. The stories of the personal interaction owners had with their unique cars is what made this channel great.
A special little car and filmed in exactly the right creative way. This kind of car is special now, can you imagine how people will want a ride in one in the future with a world full of electric vehicles.
I actually just had this conversation with my business partner. We were driving in his 911 and it hit me. Soon enough petrol cars will be limited and the demand will be insane.
The old Petrolicious isn't coming back, is it? This channel now "just" became on of many car enthusiast channels, before, there was this certain aspect to it, hard to describe, but it was a cartain mix between documentary, art and a raw focus on the car/machine, alltogether, with the editing it became something special. Don't want to be disrespectful, just sharing my sentiment for the former format, it was magical at times.
I was just about to comment and ask from where they got those numbers. I know people mistake the production numbers of the Clio V6, but mistaking it with 1078 Turbo models and 2064 Turbo 2 models is a it much. Maybe you were thinking of the homoligated versions and including the Turbo 2 Maxi into the 600 Turbo models you speak of. But please correct this very bad mistake because it makes it look like you haven’t even done any serious research regarding this model.
I never really noticed the A pillar cover that runs to the rear before on these cars. What a great machine, imagine the joy this brings you when driving this!
I was lucky enough to own a pearlecent white Turbo 2 in the late 90's early naughties. Ex Peter Stringfellow and the absolute best car I've ever owned. I should never have parted with it. For those wanting to see one used in anger, Google Jean Ragnotti - he was the works driver for Renault and an absolute legend - he still gets invited to the Festival of Speed to show off the Maxi 5 Turbo - Renaults answer to Group B with 350hp.....
Around 200HP Wide body Low center of gravity Light weight hatchback Great handling Manual Tranny Curvy roads This, is where the real fun begins. Japanese people call this Touge racing. Every car guy should do this in their life. HP dosent matter here.
1 thing really pissed me off in this video and its that we only got 2 shots of the back end of the car. 1 was a long shot of it and wasnt clear enough and the second was just a zoom on the back lights side.
This car is a reference when it comes to the concept of a rally sports car. It's a pity that the prohibition of the Group B regulations annihilated this format of converted hachtback vehicles with the rear central engine, such as the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 or the Lancia Delta S4 later. On the one hand with two seats, without a trunk and with a very peculiar design (with the additional cost that it would imply for the brands) it would have had little commercial success, on the other hand they would have been a real market for racing cars (customer-races), as later were the Gr. N's later were in the that the competition Gr. A were based (Lancia Delta Integrale, Ford Sierra and Escort Cosworth or the ultra sports Mitsubishi Lancer or Subaru Impreza in their different evolutions) came out for me much more boring than what these widened mid-motor vehicles would have been if they had had continuity.
The alpine also lost to the lancia fulvia 1.6HF. So lancia was already a champion winning the Italian Rally Championship every year from 1965 to 1973, and winning the WRC's predecessor, the International Championship For Manufacturers, in 1972.
Nice one Sam! However, Renault wasn’t trying to beat the Stratos - but the dominating Fiat 131 Abarth Rally (World Champion 1977,78 & 80). But you’re correct the Quattro beat it to that.
I don't often comment, BUT bring back the 'OLD Petrolicious"... and this Renault 5 Turbo does NOT inspire me at all! And 'Talking FAST' about it, does not make it fast ...

"Get ready for that nice bit of oversteer"
*Cuts to shot with full understeer*
LOL indeed. Lucky not to smash the barrier.

Kinda hard to do so right now...
Pretty sure the new owner is just purging all the formerly paywalled content
I'm pretty sure these are just old videos that paying subscribers received.

@@ithinkweregoingtoneedabigg8525 indeed, people who have a decent collection of cars such as Harry's Garage will be even richer than they already are.
It would be outright illegal for them to ride in it, so no i don't see it.
@@Orcawhale1 I actually work in the cannabis industry. That being said when has anything being illegal ever stopped a demand?
@@ithinkweregoingtoneedabigg8525 How are you going to hide a gas powered car, if it's illegal to drive?
Engines make noise, electric does not.

Your numbers are wrong. They build 1678 Turbo and them 3284 Turbo 2. And Renault never call it Turbo 1.

Oh been waiting for another retro upload
And this one doesn’t disappoint!
Great video as usual. But, recent releases from you seem to really downplay the sound of the car. More engine noise, please.

that steering wheel not on upside down?
The centreline at the bottom of the steering wheel and being upside down ruins this car for me 😂
I was just about to comment the same!
To clarify numbers there were a total of 1,820 Turbo 1 and 3,167 Turbo 2's produced during its 6 year production span.
One of the best dashboards.. interior is super on mk 1
I get the feeling Bertone could style a garbage truck and I'd not so much want one as desire one in a very deep way.
