Yes this video has aesthetic influences: "The Color of pomegranates" and "Alejandro Jodorowsky" BUT don't forget that the song is about depression and antipsychotics that she uses. I believe that this "strange world" (aesthetically influenced by the movies cited) is THE MENTAL STATE where she is when she has a crisis. This crisis is interrupted when she uses the antipsychotics and goes back to the real world The antipsychotics are quoted in the song called "dolls" ("Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes") and in the video we have a part where she holds a purse in one hand and in the other she holds a doll = antipsychotic.
This MV reminds me of paintings of Remedios Varo and Roberto Montenegro - surrealist painters who like putting ordinary things in awkward places to provoke their audience’ feelings. This video is uncanny yet so addicting, like your psyche will prevent you from repeating it but your human nature to satisfy your curiosity will make you repeat this video.
When you struggle with trauma, your mind goes off and disconnects from reality, “reality and dreams can interconnect”. Her mind tries to creat a “ happier” place even though she had the accident, ex. Apples - blood, that guy at the beginning on the pillow actually crashed, etc. I think that’s all about and reminds me a little Marry the night music video intro: “It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again.”
That millisecond when they show that she was resuscitated for the first time at 2:17, where she symbolically gets pulled to the ground. Literally a split second. Blows my mind
I was dumb that I didn't get this at first but came back because I realized what that actually is. And my fault I read this first before finishing as I was so confused with the video. Regardless, this video is amazing!
“When I look back in my life it’s not that I don’t want see things exactly as they happened. It’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way.”

For everyone who didn't understand the video: 1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind. 2) The Red Mask - This is the blood from the accident. 3) Bike with Pomegranates - The first real element in Gaga's vision. Most probably the victim of the collision. Pomegranates simultaneously signify life and death. 4) The Red Anklet - Gaga's broken foot in real life. 5) Walking to the White Chapel - This is the movie poster Gaga saw. This can also signify the deepest recesses of her mind, protecting her from trauma. 6) Pillow Man - Another victim of the accident who crashed on his steering wheel. 7) Black Girl in Blue - The first spectator to the accident. Most likely the one who called 911. 8) Two Yellow Men Holding a Door - These are two firemen holding the car door to get Gaga out of the mangled vehicle. Their hats have '911' written on them in roman numerals. The yellow men were blindfolded because the firemen wore black goggles. 9) Woman Holding a White Body - A woman holding a victim who got hit by the car. The white body even has red lace signifying blood. 10) Additional Three People in Blue - Additional spectators filming the whole thing. 11) Yellow Man Mixing a Cauldron - This is a fireman and a smoking car wreckage. 12) The Latin Guy in Black and the Black Mary in White - These are the paramedics trying to save Gaga's life. 13) The Spinning Umbrella - The paramedics descending via a helicopter. 14) The Purse with the Picture of the Doll - This signifies the pills that would have made her stable. Did she cause the accident? 15) The Latin Guy Strangling the White Mummy - The paramedic was checking for a pulse. 16) The Black Mary Covering the Pillow Man with a Sheet - This was the paramedic covering the victim with a thermal blanket. 17) A Man with Dog Ears whose Face is Being Covered by the Latin Man - The paramedic giving oxygen to one of the victims. 18) The Black Mary Flashing a Mirror on Gaga - The paramedic was flashing her flashlight on Gaga's pupil's looking for consciousness. Gaga in the dreamscape is her consciousness. 19) Gaga Floating Away with a Rose - This signifies Gaga's consciousness/life leaving her body. She was even wearing a halo. 20) The Latin Guy Pulling Her with a Rope - The paramedic gave her CPR. You can even see a brief flash of the real world as she comes crashing down. 21) The Rope - It was the tourniquet used on Gaga's foot. 22) Latin and Gaga Mouth-to-Mouth Action - This was CPR, mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. 23) Yellow Man on Ladder Sprinkling Rose Petals - This is a fireman repairing the movie sign. The petals were sparks. 24) Men in Blue Masks - These are policemen. They even have the bird sign in their hats. 25) The Blue Streamers Waving in the Wind - This was the fire hydrant spewing water. 26) The Peacock - This represented Armenia in the Armenian Film Festival signage. 27) The Black Mary Holding a Snake - This is the snake in the cross logo of the paramedics. 28) Gaga in Yellow Spasming - This is Gaga's body rejecting the medication/treatment. 29) The Mural - This was the scene of what really happened. Gaga is now getting closer to surfacing to reality. 30) The Latin Guy Touching Her Heart Area - The paramedic giving her heart pumps and CPR. 31) Gaga in Black Floral Outfit - This is Gaga being put in a full-body brace. The curtain also might have fallen in the background to signify her impending death, the body bag. This is why, as a last-ditch effort, the paramedics used the defibrillator. 32) The Box - This is the defibrillator. 33) The Virgin Sacrifice - As dream world and real world collide, the vision concludes in a terrifying sacrificial scene as the pain comes rushing in. It's interesting that the knife that kills her in the dream world is the current of electricity that brings her to life in the real world. 34) 'I didn't have my pills!' - This suggests that she caused the accident because she wasn't stable because she did not have her medication. 35) LG Advertisement - 'Life is good.' Ironic, isn't it?1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident. He may also signify Death or her body luring her deeper in her mind.
You are not even mentioning the biggest source of inspiration for this - Sergei Parajanov’s Colour of Pomegranates. He was a soviet Armenian director hence many visual references
2:53 One interesting new things noticed that I haven't heard a lot of people mention is: When she's dressed in yellow and the man puts his hand on her chest representing CPR, he also have "XXX" ring. XXX in Roman numerals is 30, which is exact number of chest compression you are supposed to give in CPR. (30 compression +2 rescues breaths then repeat the cycle)

For everyone that is wondering what exactly in this video is Armenian🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲🇦🇲: the entire music video was inspired by the Armenian movie called "The Color of Pomegranates" it features many aspects of our culture and national heritage. th-cam.com/video/P5TxjiY9-uE/w-d-xo.html BTW I live in LA and I personally know the lady in white dress with red cross, she is my friend, her name is Nicole and she is a model. So when you use other people's work that they've created with THEIR talent and THEIR brain, imagination, you at least have to have some decency to pay respect to that person and give them the credit they DESERVE. This is a video which CLEARLY uses the scenes from Sergei Paradjanov's film called "The Color of Pomegranates" (based on poems of Sayat-Nova - a greatly appreciated musician, poet armenian culture (google that, if you need to educate yourself on this. Judging by the number of likes - a bunch of people DO need that). It talks about armenian culture, heritage and history. Parajanov was a genius soviet filmmaker of armenian descent, a world-renowned talent alongside Tarkovsky, Scorsese and others. His work is to this day studied in universities and considered to be masterpieces (very few filmmakers managed to develop their own unique "language" when making a film. He did a lot for his art, was in labour camps for his views in the soviet era, had to work in a country with severe censorship. And, most importantly, he did a lot for his people and has a tremendous legacy around the globe. This lady is now earning money off of HIS hard work and talent. In other words, this is yet another example of CULTURAL APPROPRIATION. Remember this when this person gets another award and will be praised for her aka "imagination" and what not. It takes literally 2 braincells to steal other's work. But the gag is...you need to have some smarts to pull that off too, whuch is not the case in the video above. Don't make mockery of other ethnicities' culture and legacy. And sure as hell - don't make money off of that. Give people the credit that they deserve. Create your own, don't steal other's. Tip of the day: Hold your "idols" accountable and don't normalise this type of shitty behavior. Peace
Jane Kelly I understand what you're saying, but this video is very clearly not to "mock" Armenian culture. This is a love letter of references to a beautiful movie. There's a difference, and you fail to grasp that.
i loved this era so much🩷⚔️ it saved my mind during the pandemic fr!! i think she worked so hard with the wind against her and she did it for all of us, and for herself. that's brave af♡
I remember reading an article in 2009 (in a paper magazine!), shortly after Bad Romance was released. "The art of music video is dead", claimed the author. I'm watching this video almost 15 years later. I wish I could show this one to whoever wrote that article & watch their face
The fans were complaining about how “she lost” her artistic creativity into her music videos and then she came mad as hell and slapped all of them with this music video 😭 i love her sm

JESUS CHRIST GAGA! The amount of references in the video to the end is insane! I’m gonna list all the ones I noticed, I’m sure I missed plenty. 0:27 here the anklet is representing her wounded/bleeding ankle while also showing the bike. 0:46 the person banging their head on a pillow is actually an airbag 0:55 I don’t know if this outfit is representative of a neck brace but it looks like that to me. 1:07 this is the person in the street cradling on of the deceased victims 1:15 these are the bystanders as evidenced by the “selfie stick” shown here 1:19 1:18 here are two of the biggest! The two paramedics. And the Red Cross on the white outfit is obviously the Red Cross, but it doesn’t even register on your first watch 1:34 here the paramedic is covering the victim in a blanket 1:55 this is the other paramedic putting on this persons oxygen mask 2:11 the mirror here is the flashlight they shine in her eyes while over her 2:14 here’s a GREAT one! Here they pull her down which is them literally resuscitating her and you can see for a split second her in the real world here 2:17 (This one is thanks to another comment here) 2:26 the tourniquet is applied here 2:34 ooh and this is the person fixing the movie theater sign, and the rose petals are the sparks! 2:35 these people in blue costumes represent police officers controlling the crowd 2:39 the people wearing yellow with the red symbols represent the firefighters 2:46 this is obviously just an actual depiction of the whole crash 3:02 yellow police tape in the background 3:07 and lastly here is the stretcher! 3:17 and then these are obviously the defibrillator paddles and all of the people at the scene. Feel totally free to tell me ones I missed
At 2:30 I think it may imply he opened his mouth to give CPR, since he turns towards her right after she moves her hand away from her mouth (which could represent the bagging they do sometimes when alternating CPR). What do you think?
@@UndressingAndUnlearningthat is a good idea, and I was wondering what the mouth opening was about, however at the end she doesn’t have a bag on her face at the end (but that could have been so she can talk to the camera?)
@@dharrison6504 That would still make sense though! When they shock they "clear" so no one is in contact with the person, so she wouldn't be being bagged at that moment. I took it symbolizing the work they were doing before the final shock as there's a rotation of techniques used to get oxygen in the patient's system when they are out. Thanks for posting the list by the way, so fun to decipher!
1) Pop a 911 refers to Popping an anxiety pill that gets referred to as "911" 2) The song is an upbeat pop song about battling one's addiction to anxiety medication and trying to stabilize mental instability. I.e My biggest enemy is me, pop a 911. 3) This song video is a reference to an obscure Armenian film called The Colour of Pomegranates. Hence the Pomegranates and also a lot of symbolism match those found in that film. 4) They were not Mexican references but Armenian references. Hence why they flash a sign that says Armenian film festival. 5) The part where Gaga is in green and flying refers to when her life is leaving her body but the paramedic resuscitated her and brought her back down. That's why the halo on her head is not above her head because she's not left her body yet. The flower she carries as well as white and fresh when she floats but once she descends back, notice how it wilts. 6) The woman in the white garb with the long-haired man is the other medic on the accident site. Note the red cross symbol. And the snake in the universal logo for medicine is referenced constantly. 7) The end proves that Gaga perceives the world in a colorful and fantasy-based manner. That's why everything she saw before she became unconscious was interpreted by her mind the way we saw it. Another theory is that she perceived them that way because she was not on her pills. the pills "normalize" her so without the pills, everything is perceived by her is magical and artistic. 8) Also, in 2011, Gaga wore teal hair and said she wears teal when she wants to portray her fantasy side.and goes back to blonde when she's portraying reality. Notice how she's teal haired when she's in the fantasy dream in 911 but in the accident scene, she's blonde. 9) LG could be a sponsor but it's also what the fans call her. LG stands for Lifes good and for Lady Gaga. Thank you for coming to my TED Talk
Guys I didn't know this but if you pause very quickly on 2:17, you can see that after the paramedics try to bring Stefani back to consciousness, for a split second you see the reality and not the hallucinations.
Cristian Mendoza I guess we’re all the same when it comes to that. Mine was a matter of months ago but I’m stronger than ever now. The part at the end with all the reference points got me. Chills. Hope you’re good 💓
Heaux Meaux Living Mines been about two years but stuff like this definitely triggers the trauma. Just happy to be in a much better place now than I was before. We came out stronger and better ♥️ Hope you’re doing good too❣️
I think this will be a storyline because at the end that is the transition to Sine From Above which is a duet of Lady Gaga and Elton John. I think Elton John will be the doctor lol since Gaga had an accident in this MV.
央礼 Does Stupid Love and Rain On Me connected to 911 tho cause Lady Gaga is in her Chromatica world or something in pervious two m/v but now she just having accident in somewhere else.
Si_ Mutifandom I think not... because Stupid Love and Rain On Me is more on love expression while 911 is like about mental health and Sine From Above is also about coping mental health.
Explanation: She wakes up in the dessert, with a red ankle bracelet. The bracelet is her leg injury in the real world. Her dream state is in a dessert with a Armenian styled outfits is because the last thing she saw was the sign on top of the movie billboards. And the "New mexico white sands" poster. The black horse/ white horse is a symbolism of death, meaning if she doesn't get help she's going to die. So she arrives at this village and sees all these people doing strange things meaning its whats actually going on in the real world. You see the black female and the male descending, which i think means they came down from a helicopter to save her. She than opens a box and its a doll. This is a symbolism of Pills and her passed addition. "Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes " Than she is rising above symbolisming her passing. You see the same black female and male on the ground. The mirror the female is holding is the flashlight she is holding in the real world, while the male is "pulling her down" aka preventing her from dying. You see as a split second of her waking back up. but she than goes unconscious again. You see her in this red suit that looks like a Lung. Shes loosing air so the male opens his mouth which is showing him doing CPR in the real world. Than you see her shaking her head. Which could mean they shocked her to get her heart beating again, than shes in a room with everyone in it. Almost like how they are placed in the real world, thats where she wakes up into the real world and realizes what's really going on.
Thank you for the explanation, I thought the same😊In 3:02 you can see a light yellow line behind the scene, it is written " Զգուշություն", it means caution in armenian. I recommend to watch "The Colour of Pomegranates " by Parajanov, guess here Gaga got the idea of the video.
This video was inspired by the Armenian film from the late 60s, called The Colour of Pomegranates, which is depicted in this video, in the cinema hall scene in the latter part of this song.
I saw the movie before the video came out and the first time I watched this i went full snob saying "oh she just did colour of pomegranates", then the ending hit me like a truck. This is one of the most clever ways I've seen someone remaking and/or referencing another work of art to say something else.
Okay but when Gaga starts floating to heaven, the rose she's holding still looks fresh, and when Mr. Hot-ass Medic started pulling her down, the rose started withering. DETAILS DAMMIT.
The rose is fresh because she is going to feel no more pain and being blessed, but when she is pulled back to life she starts feeling the pain of injuries again, so the rose starts withering
Hi I’m learning some of her songs 🎶❤️🥰 she is my inspiration and why I never gave up please tell me your option on this th-cam.com/video/V6DJ-ksdo7M/w-d-xo.html I love her and I want to meet her :)
After watching the video and the painting several times I think I got what happened in real life: - The character of Lady Gaga didn’t take her medications ( I’m guessing antipsychotics/ benzodiazepines/ antidepressants ?) she was suicidal, she wanted to end her life so she drove into traffic with her bicycle and she had bought pomegranates ( that’s why we see them fruits scattered in the “dream” version) - The first car (the blue car that had the guy that got his head hit by the airbag )crashed into the bicycle and then the Lamborghini crashed into the first car and probably ran one of the pedestrians (a foreigner or non cacausian). -The medical team got there by helicopter ( that’s why we see in the dream version, the two descending with an umbrella and we see it too on the paining). They were called by the two pedestrians that we see with the selfie-stick - The police probably got there first. About the symbolism, I got : - A Desert because she saw the LG display and the movie theater poster(white sand) and it probably represents a limbo ( between life and death) - She was laying down right next to her bicycle so it’s almost certain she caused the accident. - She had a red ankle bracelet and a red mask that represent the wounds she had from the accident. - Pomegranates because she bought them and they represent the Armenian film, the color of pomegranates - Black horse and the rider, again from the movie theater poster (white sands) /LG display that probably represents death (that’s why Lady Gaga is following it because she actually was hoping to die) - Then she enters to the scene at the chapel, she’s not ready to leave because she feels guilt ‘cause she actually got people hurt. - We see the guy hitting his head with the pillow that represents the airbag (and it repeats itself because lady Gaga saw this. it reminds me of flashback memories or involuntary recurrent memories that occur in PTSD) -The first pedestrian is there by curiosity - The colored Frame represents the window of the blue car. - After that, we see the two pedestrians that called 911 ( pointing the helicopter) and also recorded the scene. - The two medical staff descend from the helicopter , then the hot paramedic gave the guy in the blue car a special blanket and checked the pulse of the pedestrian who got ran by one of the cars. - Next we see the hot paramedic attending, the rich man with a tank of oxygen ( represented by the shell 🐚 ). - then we see Gaga trying to ascend to heaven ☁️, then get pulled back to earth by the hot paramedic and flashed with a mirror by the other paramedic ( representing the light of the flashlight 🔦). We also get a subliminal image of reality when she hits the floor. - At one point she gets CPR by the hot paramedic but she’s not responding so she leaves ( she’s like nope 🤷🏻♀️) - The hot paramedic grabs her ankle to place the tourniquet. - She follows the black horse with the rider again because she’s close to death but the paramedic follows her to save her. (And the blue silky fabric represents the water from the fire hydrant 💦 ). -The hot paramedic checks her pulse, and we see the painting, explaining everything that happened in real life. - Then he gets the defibrillator and gives it to the other paramedic. - Next there’s the scene inside the chapel, almost like a trial, everyone points her because she caused the accident. So in her mind, it’s interpreted as a sentence to death . - She cries because she’s realized how much pain she has caused and that the only thing that she wanted is to end her life (props to the acting we could feel how painful it was for her😢) - She was found guilty so the hot paramedic “kills her” with the pointy daggers but instead it’s the defibrillator. And voilà she’s brought back to life! Bonus : the hot paramedic is seen by Lady Gaga as the punisher / the executioner / “the bad guy” because 1) he cut her chance to go to heaven 2) he follows her to send her to trial 3) he “kills her”. The representation that she has of him is totally out of touch with reality and at the same time it’s not because deep down she knows he’s trying to save other people but her guilt is simply stronger. So in her mind she needs to be punished.
Great analysis! But I thought the guy lying in the middle of the street, unattended to, must be dead. what if he was on the bike, wasn't watching, first car hit him and zooms left,, 2nd car ran up the curb to that driver's right to avoid the guy already dead. And Gaga was a pedestrian hit by car 1 or by car 2 as she was leaving the movie theatre.
Gregory Keith thank you ! yeah maybe , I really don’t know ! I’m just guessing from what I saw and how the bicycle was placed in the first scene. If the pedestrian was the one in the bike it wouldn’t make sense that she was feeling guilty that she didn’t take her pills/ and that she asked right away if anybody had died ! Also if you look close at the painting the blue car is in front of the bike and the girl looks like she was thrown out of the bike and the pedestrian is next to the car. If the blue car hit the bike, logically the person should’ve been thrown forward and not sideways. It’s just a theory tho 😄
Yeah, gaga looks, and videos is just out if this world. I'm not a fan if this song but I have to say she is so creative. Before rain in me, I didn't listen to her since I was little bit since I was little I just love her craziness
Clinical psychology tells us arguably that trauma is the ultimate killer Memories are not recycled like atoms and particles in quantum physics They can be lost forever It's sort of like my past is an unfinished painting And as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes And make it beautiful again
She was the reason why the accident happened because of her suicidal tendencies. When she woke up, she was crying asking if someone died, that she didn't take her pills, she was apologizing.. September is National Suicide Prevention Month. If you are struggling, please reach out. Never never never give up.

she didn’t have her pills, intrusive thoughts got to her, she closed her eyes and biked into traffic. once brought back from death, she realized she did not want to die.
that's why she was blind at the beggining lf her dream omg now all makes sense, she wanted to commit suicide first and at the end when the paramedics reanimated her she didn't want to die, gosh the storyline is so sad
Ooo at first I thought she was the one driving because she has a lambo herself but I think u right cuz the dream sequence showed her on a bike. Interesting why she chose bike thi
To be honest, this is very very basic. Nothing special about it except the river of money injected in the production so it looks beautiful, but nothing more than this.

Like, LG's slogan "Life's Good" appearing literally stands in contrast to the video's story, and offers a dark irony to it. The way the advert was incorporated into the concept of the video, instead of just being a random ad, was simply brilliant.
this video literally deserved a “video of the year” and mostly “video for good” nomination at the VMAs... it’s the message and how she addresses how important mental health is but they don’t appreciate that
@@indigochild3700 well technically it’s supposed to be showing the contrast, of how she feels when she’s on her meds “oh life is good” and when she isn’t on her meds she feels like she isn’t good enough. (ik you’re gonna get annoyed with me being technical lmao)
Shocking and heartbreakin. In her vulnerability lies her power. A FULL CIRCLE: Now we understand her younger self, now we understand her present self. This is what trauma can do to us. Transforming pain into poetry is what helps us survive. I love you, Lady Gaga.

How did this woman come up with the concept for this video? Lady Gaga is from another galaxy, 5000 years from now, and came to Earth to show how real art looks like
I am a 23 year old rapper. I recently made a track called "Dying to Live' in support of the BLM Movement. Please click on my channel, give it a listen and let me know what you think!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i would say thats what she has been doing her whole career, even at Marry the night she did and now that we know all the truth and what it is really about is so shocking
REFERENCES i could get: This video is inspired by the film called "The Color of Pomegranates". There are many references to that film during the whole video. Gaga is in the middle of the desert and there are pomegranates on the sand. Her feet are covered in sand instead of blood. Then she gets in that village and the guy who hits his head over and over again is showing his vision while he was having the car accident (that explains the camera angles). Then Gaga is raising to heaven cause she was about to die but then she gets pulled back to the ground so she could survive. The scars on her forehead make a reference to Replay "the scars on my mind are on replay". Then the obvious references at the end showing what actually happened. And the advertisment saying "Life is Good" (LG): Gaga finding that, after all the pain she was going through, she could see a ray of light, a sine from above that could make her feel alive again. Music and Chromatica saved her.
She’s about to die and what keeps her alive was the sine from the above (music) that’s why she has the sines in her head at the end of the video because that’s what chromatica3 is all about.
Lady Gaga said of this album: “If you’re listening to this album and you’re suffering in any type of way, just know that that suffering within itself is a sign of your humanity and you are not broken. You are connected to the whole world and we are one giant body. We are one full entity,” Gaga said. “And the whole you is having a whole human experience and there might be parts of your life that feel completely shallow or robotic or ancillary and unimportant, and that’s okay, but that suffering is a sign that you’re real and it’s a way to ground yourself.” she also talked about healing through dance :)
Gaga delivered the most honest yet pop-funk-fantastic album of the decade. Adele is stunning yet she goes straight-forward personal while Gaga decides to turn it into alternative art. I don't mean to value one over the other although I obviously have a bias without wanting to harm the other
0:51 the guy who kept banging his head was kinda creepy until you realise that must have been one of the last things she saw before passing out because he's the guy who hit his head in the car, that's why it keeps replaying in her head :O
This video is just perfect. It's like when you black out in a traumatic event and the brain just responds to that making you dream with elements of what happened to you but in a good way so they don't seem so harsh to process... And like, when she is floating to the sky she means literally almost dying but somehow when the paramedics manage to stabilize or "wake her up" is when the guy pulls her down. After that he makes a pressure in her ankles and that is the feeling of pain coming back to her as she recovers consciousness but at first it just feels like a slight pressure then it slightly turns into a big pressure then real pain. I also took some time but finally understood why the guy in the beginning is hitting a pillow, again that is the way of the brain trying to process what she saw (him hitting the wheel while crashing) in a "good" or less traumatic way.
Interesting! I thought that the whole video was about Christianity references. I thought the paramedic was supposed to represent Jesus. When Gaga would turn to him and then the wall and back to him while singing "my biggest enemy is me papa 911", that represented her not having anywhere to turn/any help except for turning to Jesus, and "papa 911" meant that she was calling to God/papa for help. I felt like the paramedic guy pulling her back down was supposed to represent how Jesus serves as an anchor/rock for people to have stability in their lives. And I felt like the invisible cuff around her leg was supposed to represent Gaga's sort of invisible tether of faith to Jesus that would serve to keep her safe and grounded now. I felt like the video as a whole was supposed to represent how when faced with some sort of crisis, Gaga is saying to shout out "papa 911" and ask god for help.
@@yuji5107 no, the OP was right. Lady Gaga did a footnotes version of the video. She was talking about mental health and an accident. Also it's Pop a 9-1-1, not papa. Like popping pills for help (anti depressants, etc.) th-cam.com/video/DCnlpGN0A4M/w-d-xo.html
Knowing why she wrote the song, when she started crying, I cried as well. I know how needing meds feels like and this song explains it so well. I'm glad you are okay Gaga. Edit: She explained that this is song is about the anti-psychotic medication she has taken (I'm not sure if she's is still taking them). She had to taken them after she had a breakdown and she was taken to ER. All of this song, the video and the lyrics are full of symbolism about her mental state.
"When I look back on my life it’s not that I don’t want to see things exactly as they happened, it’s just that I prefer to remember them in an artistic way. And truthfully the lie of it all is much more honest because I invented it. Clinical psychology tells us arguably that trauma is the ultimate killer. Memories are not recycled like atoms and particles in quantum physics. They can be lost forever. It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again. It’s not that I have been dishonest; it’s just that I loathe reality." The prelude pathétique, 2012.
Lady Gaga in this song is influenced by the Armenian director Paraganov's genius film " The Color Of A Pomegranate". The film is about the Armenian medieval poet, musician Sayat Nova's life and his poetry. Which was quite remarkable , painful and beautiful.
Not only. What about hidden messages about Armenian war with azerbaijan. 9/11 is the November 9 when the ceasefire was forced to prevent the Genocide of Armenians in Armenia and Artsakh enforced by azerbaijan and turkey.
@@stela9046 a chronic ilness, it causes generalized pain and fatigue, Gaga has it and for that and other health issues she has been prescribed antipsychotic medication, which is the inspiration for the song.

This crisis is interrupted when she uses the antipsychotics and goes back to the real world
The antipsychotics are quoted in the song called "dolls" ("Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes") and in the video we have a part where she holds a purse in one hand and in the other she holds a doll = antipsychotic.
so your point is that this video is a vma award winner right?

The Valley of the Dolls reference, OMG. 😍
In the other hand she is holding a very tiny doll
When you struggle with trauma, your mind goes off and disconnects from reality, “reality and dreams can interconnect”. Her mind tries to creat a “ happier” place even though she had the accident, ex. Apples - blood, that guy at the beginning on the pillow actually crashed, etc. I think that’s all about and reminds me a little Marry the night music video intro: “It’s sort of like my past is an unfinished painting and as the artist of that painting I must fill in all the ugly holes, and make it beautiful again.”

This is one of her best videos ever is so underrated!!!
For everyone who didn't understand the video:
1) Black Horseman in a White Desert - This signifies the poster for New Mexico Gaga saw before the accident.

Tip of the day:
Hold your "idols" accountable and don't normalise this type of shitty behavior.
Peace
Jane Kelly I understand what you're saying, but this video is very clearly not to "mock" Armenian culture. This is a love letter of references to a beautiful movie. There's a difference, and you fail to grasp that.

2) The song is an upbeat pop song about battling one's addiction to anxiety medication and trying to stabilize mental instability.

Gaga, WHY DIDN'T YOU GIVE US A FULL VISUAL ALBUM? I WANT A MOVIE FOR THIS STORYLINE

"Keep my dolls inside diamond boxes
" Than she is rising above symbolisming her passing.
Omg. That now explain the full red dress. I thought it was supposed to mean something but i didnt get it
and all the Visuals are based on the "The Colors of Pomegranates", a classic Armenian Art Film.
you are amazing thank you
"armenian styled outfits" hahaha
Thank you for the explanation, I thought the same😊In 3:02 you can see a light yellow line behind the scene, it is written " Զգուշություն", it means caution in armenian. I recommend to watch "The Colour of Pomegranates " by Parajanov, guess here Gaga got the idea of the video.

But she is actually from the future.
I know she was just acting but
When she said "am I gonna die?" That just broke my heart

Coming here after "Disease"; this woman is a LEGEND.
After watching the video and the painting several times I think I got what happened in real life:
- The character of Lady Gaga didn’t take her medications ( I’m guessing antipsychotics/ benzodiazepines/ antidepressants ?) she was suicidal, she wanted to end her life so she drove into traffic with her bicycle and she had bought pomegranates ( that’s why we see them fruits scattered in the “dream” version)
- The first car (the blue car that had the guy that got his head hit by the airbag )crashed into the bicycle and then the Lamborghini crashed into the first car and probably ran one of the pedestrians (a foreigner or non cacausian).
-The medical team got there by helicopter ( that’s why we see in the dream version, the two descending with an umbrella and we see it too on the paining). They were called by the two pedestrians that we see with the selfie-stick
- The police probably got there first.
About the symbolism, I got :
- A Desert because she saw the LG display and the movie theater poster(white sand) and it probably represents a limbo ( between life and death)
- She was laying down right next to her bicycle so it’s almost certain she caused the accident.
- She had a red ankle bracelet and a red mask that represent the wounds she had from the accident.
- Pomegranates because she bought them and they represent the Armenian film, the color of pomegranates
- Black horse and the rider, again from the movie theater poster (white sands) /LG display that probably represents death (that’s why Lady Gaga is following it because she actually was hoping to die)
- Then she enters to the scene at the chapel, she’s not ready to leave because she feels guilt ‘cause she actually got people hurt.
- We see the guy hitting his head with the pillow that represents the airbag (and it repeats itself because lady Gaga saw this. it reminds me of flashback memories or involuntary recurrent memories that occur in PTSD)
-The first pedestrian is there by curiosity
- The colored Frame represents the window of the blue car.
- At one point she gets CPR by the hot paramedic but she’s not responding so she leaves ( she’s like nope 🤷🏻♀️)
- The hot paramedic grabs her ankle to place the tourniquet.
- She cries because she’s realized how much pain she has caused and that the only thing that she wanted is to end her life (props to the acting we could feel how painful it was for her😢)
- She was found guilty so the hot paramedic “kills her” with the pointy daggers but instead it’s the defibrillator.
Why doesn't this have more likes??!! This explanation is everything! !
Ogechukwu Osuagwu thank you 😍!
Wow I didn't get the trial thing....excellent 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Chromatica has always been a painful and scary era and yet you dance thru it to ease the pain. That is what i learned from the era.
No one's gonna' talk about the ending song which is Chromatica III, that means it has a possibility of having a Sine From Above music video? ✨🎶👀
She’s about to die and what keeps her alive was the sine from the above (music) that’s why she has the sines in her head at the end of the video because that’s what chromatica3 is all about.
When I was young, I prayed for lightning
@@yunnguiapar7485 I agree with you

Lady Gaga said of this album: “If you’re listening to this album and you’re suffering in any type of way, just know that that suffering within itself is a sign of your humanity and you are not broken. You are connected to the whole world and we are one giant body. We are one full entity,” Gaga said. “And the whole you is having a whole human experience and there might be parts of your life that feel completely shallow or robotic or ancillary and unimportant, and that’s okay, but that suffering is a sign that you’re real and it’s a way to ground yourself.” she also talked about healing through dance :)
You could make a religion out of this
I fucking had goosebumps
It's not just a clip. Armenia, Azerbayjan, Russia, Turkey. Just before the war in 2020. How Amenia will be left alone.
This is why I love you lady Gaga❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Thanks for sharing!
Chromatica remains the best album of the decade no matter what people say
Gaga delivered the most honest yet pop-funk-fantastic album of the decade. Adele is stunning yet she goes straight-forward personal while Gaga decides to turn it into alternative art. I don't mean to value one over the other although I obviously have a bias without wanting to harm the other
0:51 the guy who kept banging his head was kinda creepy until you realise that must have been one of the last things she saw before passing out because he's the guy who hit his head in the car, that's why it keeps replaying in her head :O
"The scars on her mind are on replay, replay"
"the scars on my mind are on replay"
You're right.

This woman is such an icon
She is an icon, she is a legend, and she IS the moment!
Все согл
a *gay* icon that is!
Wow wtf you analysed it in a way my brain couldn’t but now I see what you mean it makes sense
El domingo en un hotel del centro del
Interesante.
Post disease, still iconic.
All of this song, the video and the lyrics are full of symbolism about her mental state.
for someone that has no idea of the context can you explain I genuinely didn't understand the video/song
I also had tears on my eyes. Oh my! What a video clip !

"How many times have you watched this?"
"Yes."
It’s not that I have been dishonest; it’s just that I loathe reality."

Lady Gaga in this song is influenced by the Armenian director Paraganov's genius film " The Color Of A Pomegranate". The film is about the Armenian medieval poet, musician Sayat Nova's life and his poetry.
Which was quite remarkable , painful and beautiful.
Thank you for sharing. I'm going to check that movie out!

Not only. What about hidden messages about Armenian war with azerbaijan. 9/11 is the November 9 when the ceasefire was forced to prevent the Genocide of Armenians in Armenia and Artsakh enforced by azerbaijan and turkey.
