I would have never played Metriod Prime if they didn't remake it. So I don't think its a problem if its an upgrade to the original but if its just a rip of the original game then it is a problem because your paying more for less.

@@joelsytairo6338 Actually, the series has been at an all-time high sales-wise! The original Metroid Prime was the best-selling Metroid game until Dread came out in 2021! If anything, Nintendo will begin to put more attention on the series.
@@0072.0 those games had different developers and prime remaster was a remake made at the height of when retro was supposedly working on mp4. The signs were not good.
I mean, the obvious answer is that the new system is in the works of being released, which you do bring up too. I love the remakes, and I love playing ttyd for the first time.
I want an excuse, however, to play Twilight Princess again without motion controls. I doubt we'll ever get the wii u ports of both WW and TP, but I can hope.

I remember when they added so many remakes/remasters/ports to the 3ds when it was still getting games in 2017-2019 when the switch was released. Like, yoshi's wooly world +poochy, superstar saga, captain toad treasure tracker, bowser's inside story, luigi's mansion and kirby extra yarn. It was pretty obvious that support and games were coming to an end to the 3ds, which is kinda showing here to the switch now.

Probably because it was sold full price with no new additions. They could have really made it something worth the buck for both old and new fans, but they just ported a $19 game to the Switch, but HD, some quality of life improvements, and more accessible controls. If they are going to make old games full price, the least they could do is make a definitive edition that has content that was cut from the original game and extra lore.

Considering most of them are making games on underperforming consoles (The Gamecube, the Wii U) accessable to a wider audience and the ones that aren't like Mario RPG and Mario vs Donkey Kong are genuinely huge upgrades? Heck no, there aren't too many! Infact give me more.
Where's HD Wooly World with updated Amiibo support and the 3DS Poochy levels? Where's DKC Returns with the 3DS world and a funky new mode? Where's Kirby and the Rainbow Curse with pointer controls (and touch for handheld mode/switch lite)? Where's Prime 2 HD? Where's the Oracle Zelda games remade in the Link's Awakening engine? Where's Metroid Zero Mission remade by Mercury Stream in the Dread engine? Where's the Wii U HD Zelda ports? Where's Golden Sun and The Lost Age remade into one cohesive game as they were intended to be back on N64? I want moooooooreeee damn it!
We're at the end of the Switch's lifespan. I was expecting it to be remakes galore.
I just think it's great that we're getting all of these older games ported, remastered, and remade for the Switch. It allows for them to be more accessible for those who didn't buy the originals when they released, and Nintendo has such a massive lineup of legacy titles with like an endless amount of great older games to bring over

I mean, its both good and bad. Good that people who never got to play games like ttyd or Luigi's mansion 2, but also they could just offer some of these games on their online service
id rather own the games tbh.
First of all, some of these games are over 2 decades old, and second, Gamecube & Wii Nostalgia is hot on the table at the moment.
Remakes shouldn't exist in an era where they can just digitally distribute the original roms. It's a waste

I bought my Wii U solely for Smash Bros. because the gamepad looked confusing and tacky. Thanks to Virtual Console, it's now a 3D Zelda machine with Fire Emblem and Metroid GBA games!
Wii U owner here and they haven’t ported the Starfox zero and Starfox games to switch. Makes me sad but it didn’t too well so I understand

I really am starting to developed remake fatigue and I wish AAA game studios would focus more on original game ideas rather than remaking existing games because I think we need games that push the medium forward in terms of gameplay and storytelling.
Check out indie games and play more retro stuff. Stop waiting around for AAA to make any decent decisions lol
@@Professor_Utonium_ I do played indie games and retro games actually but at the same time I am hoping for AAA game studios to follow in the same footsteps at indie game studios but like you said they can’t make good decisions and making a new IP is kind of a big risk financially so they stick to what works.
@@maxtubb8560 At this point it really is just like AAA franchises and indie for new IPs. But in a sense, that's how it all kind of started too. At one point in time, Sega, Capcom, Nintendo, etc; were all just the new little guys starting out.
@@Professor_Utonium_ That a good way of looking at it but how I like to look at it is comparing the gaming industry to the film industry because when you think about it they actually quite similar.
For example at one point in time Disney (and other big film studios in general) actually cared about making legitimately great films with different techniques but then they became a big monopoly and started pumping out these cynical live action remakes of their animated films but meanwhile you started to see more independent film studios like A24 and Focus Features who where actually willing to take risk with their films and try something new and to make genuine art instead of making corporate garbage.
@@maxtubb8560 That's a little funny that you used A24 as an example, I feel that they've gone more corporate and safe lately lol But I'm not going to disagree with your outlook on them by any means either. The Disney comparison is totally on point for sure. If only Nintendo would at least give us their version of Disney+ instead of NSO.

I doubt we will ever get anymore consoles on NSO. But the current consoles on NSO combined with remakes would lead to having the majority of Nintendo catalogue on the switch 2 if (which we 99% will) get backwards compatibility. I think it’s great as long as we don’t get anymore random stuff like Mario vs donkey Kong.

I am really hoping for f-zero gx because recently I’ve been playing a lot of f-zero 99 and x on the switch, and I know absolutely nothing about f-zero gx, but I really want to play it.

Yes. It is without a single question. Now Nintendo is focusing more on remakes than actual quality titles, its creatively bankrupt and they should be held accountable just like Sony has
I don’t think they said anything about breath of the wild getting remake at all, there just seems to be a lot of assumptions to stuff that we don’t even know about yet

I owned a Wii U
First Nintendo console we skip at the house, I fell that the switch was like that person who at 30s who decided to become software developer or "engineer" out of the blue (for obviou$ rea$on$), only the real loyals actually play those games in their original consoles instead of having them all offered now that online multiplayer, HD and all those nice amenities are part of a Nintendo console, leaving aside the obvious I was too young to buy my own console before I felt the switch is full of pasive posers or wokes (gen-z)

Nintendo remakes and ports are a problem and show that Nintendo is a greedy company only interested in charging full price for decade old games. Meanwhile I'm going to mald if kid icarus uprising and TP/WW HD don't show up in the upcoming direct, and I'm also going to be upset that I can't purchase pokemon xd gale of darkness at a somewhat reasonable price.

honestly....if you saw the price of some of these games before the remakes...it really makes me grateful for them. pikmin 1 is like 100 and pikmin 2 like 150. paper mario 100-140...

Remakes shouldn't exist anymore. Preserving the originals and making new games is more important
@alphamarigi Remakes give games that would otherwise be forgotten or overlooked the chance to shine again, as well as to improve upon any areas they were weak in.
This is especially true for games that were unable to reach wider audiences due to their controls or various other factors that kept gamers away from them.
Preservation is important, but acting like remakes are a net negative is just plain wrong.
@@smashbrolink the use up development time that could be spent on new games. The games they are remaking hold up perfectly fine. TTYD didn't need a remake it just needed to be available. In an age of digital distribution remakes are no longer necessary. And are a waste of money.

Not doing a remake does not automatically mean a good new game simply magically exists in its place.
There are plenty of games out there that deserve the second chance to be better than they were, as well as to reach an audience that would turn away from the original simply because of how long ago they came out, no matter how well they hold up.
Also, TTYD absolutely did deserve a remake that fixed the backtracking using the new warp pipes room.
You cannot convince me otherwise.
@@smashbrolink the original TTYD had a better script. Remakes aren't always good either. Remakes don't take as much resources as new game yet they charging us just as much and the dev time they take up adds up. Ports exist. They can simply port games instead of remaking them. I'd hate for F-Zero GX to get a remake instead of a sequel. I have been waiting 20 years for new tracks. Games deserve to be played not for gamers to be babies about little inconveniences and old graphics
I have a Wii U and still use it. MK8 with its DLC; SM 3D World, DKC TF, some Virtual Console games. It's such a bummer they closed the 3DS and Wii U éShop AND in addition to that, shut down their online servers now.
If they keep this up when the new Switch comes out, and they're the price and quality of Luigi's Mansion 2 "HD"...yeah I think it's gonna wear us out soon.
