    Hi Stuart: Very helpful Video! I was actually watching this one because I needed to remove my T120 rear wheel for a tire change and had a little confusion on the caliper removal. Video answered my question and everything after that went well - Thanks!. But, I do have a question concerning your comment at the 9:24 mark where you said to tighten the Axel nut to 85 Nm. Haynes manual states 110 Nm as does the T120 owners manual. In your "Triumph Bonneville T120, HOW TO ADJUST YOUR CHAIN!" video November 24, 2017 you had a comment that you thought that 110 Nm was excessive. Is the 85 Nm a personal preference or is there a difference between the Axel nut torque specs for the T100 and the T120?
    Regards

      You have me doubting myself now Thomas. Purely from recollection the air cooled t100 2010 model, rear axle nut is 85nm as stated. The 2016 LC T120 is 110 mms I'm sure the values ive given are correct.

      @@stuartfillingham7011 That explains it...Totally lost track that it was the air cooled and not the liquid cooled bike. Thanks for the reply!

    What threw me for a loop after watching your video when servicing the rear brakes were the plastic caps stuck on the Rear disc bolts that were not mentioned. I thought my bike's fasteners were rivets. In my opinion even the Haynes manual does not go into enough detail for us over on this side of the pond. It does mention to "prise" these caps off (Chapter 6, Illustration 4.3). In North America "prise" is not a word we would ever use or understand, "pry" would have been more appropriate for us colonials.
    Well I learned two things today.

    I never understood why the rear caliper is in that spot and I think Motone has a creative solution. Unfortunately, I didn't see a similar bracket for the T-120 :-(

    Nice video. I’m sure there are lots of triumph owners out there that would like to get involved but might not have the experience/confidence and for whom this is very helpful. Giving the torque values is great.

    Does Triumph have a problem relating to squeaking front brakes/ Callipers ? Owners I have met have said this can be an issue. On a recent test ride of a relatively new 1200 bike I did experience this problem. The dealer denied any problems with any Triumphs they have sold. Can you comment please.

    Great Video Stuart. Have a question on your choice of SS brake lines. Why did you choose the HEL brake lines?
    There appears to be a few on the market now, eg Spiegler . I have heard of some that have failed rather quickly and others are twice the price of HEL.
    Looking forward to your comments as the one on my '09 are original and the manual says you are supposed to replace them every 4 years.

    Hi Stuart, looks like a useful mod to do, do you know if Motone will be doing one for the T120

  • @triumphrider9796
    @triumphrider9796 5 ปีที่แล้ว

    I've never had a problem with my rear caliper as far as wear goes ('02 T100, 28,000 miles); I did forget to torque the mounting bolts fully once after replacing the rear tire, found that out near the end of a 400-mile ride when one of them backed out. The HH pads alone make a noticeable difference in brake performance, did mine a few years ago, new discs and brake lines coming up soon.

    • @stuartfillingham
      @stuartfillingham  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was refering to deterioration of the calliper from being exposed to the elements mr Rider, not wear! I agree regarding the HH pads, have used them for many years!

    • @triumphrider9796
      @triumphrider9796 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fair enough, I suppose I wasn't clear, but I haven't experienced undue deterioration either; possibly it's partly due to the climate difference, I imagine it's a bit more damp there than here!
