WE have to increase the dosage of chlorine when we have thunderstorms as it seems lightning neutralizes the chlorine and the pool turns green overnight.

We built a small platform for our pump. Then built a curtain to hide it. When Our boys were the age yours kids are... it was the perfect place for them. They were no longer " bored" 😅 They would pick at each other.. I'd just tell them to go in them pool..they were best friends again..😅 I hope your family gets hours of relaxation
We had an above ground pool for 26 years. With five kids it was the best investment we made to keep them busy from May to September! Our filter was similar to yours that you just installed and it kept our pool clean with no problem. My husband always enjoyed getting in the pool after cutting the grass.
Norma here. We have a similar pool with only the skimmer for over two years now. We live in FL so my grandson uses it frequently. I didn’t realize that we should have an additional filter. My son takes care of the pool maintenance. Our pool water has never turned green. You have such patience, Buddy, with finding and fixing the leak. BTW, you did only say everyone. lol
Growing up as a kid we always had a pool. There were 5 girls in my family. I hated it do to having a crabapple tree close to the pool. They would fall in and hit ya in the head.😜🤪 Parents finally bought a cover which was a blessing for a clean pool but had to put the cover on nightly. Great size pool.

Take a piece of copper pipe fitting and place in an empty pill bottle ( like advil) and put in a floating skimmer basket, you can also put in a magic eraser in the same basket this keeps the green down

I have an above ground pool with the top skimmer like that. But I have a regular sand filter. No need to cut another hole. Mine is hard plumbed with PVC pipe instead of hoses.
Tip: Turn on the shimmer and filtration pump and don't turn it off until ready to close the pool for the season. Buddy: "Dang that's big!" Steph: "That's what she sad" 🤣
Steph and Buddy are so.handy! Major skills. The barn is already amazing and it isn't finished. Sheetrock and I aren't exactly enemies but I am convinced all sheetrock hates me. Such a wise way to solve the filter problem. Buddy's explanations are very clear. Maybe some full product assembly videos will be in your future. Caden's cannonball was epic! Thank you Buddy, I really want a pool, but don’t think I can ever get one, we once had a 4 ft one , but my husband was out there every day cleaning it and the filter of course it was 30 years ago. So I’m sure things are way different now! Not sure I can do it on my own 😊
If i remember we had a Coleco all metal pump with a attached skimmer!! If you vacuum the pool regularly that will also help. Daily end of day after the sun goes down is when we poured the chlorine in all around the sides of the pool..Rinse the bucket out n threw it in the middle..The vacuuming was the longest job!! Especially after all those parties in the backyard!!

They have those robotic pool cleaners.. You just drop it in the pool and let it do its thing, then you fish it out and clean the filter. Battery operated.
My daughter has lined in-ground pool. it is salt water, I don't understand how that works. You feel so light in it. Still a lot of work keeping up! Enjoy.
Just a quick suggestion...Not sure if you're planning on leaving your pool up year round (I did and managed to get like 8+ years out of our last one), however, you may want to purchase a shutoff valve (think it's called a plunger valve?) for your hoses. That way if you need to disconnect the filter system for any reason your water won't just run out of the pool. Also, if you're going to keep it up year-round, you can shut the valve and disconnect the hoses to put the pump away for the winter so you don't risk freezing and cracking the hoses or pump.
We just added a 3/4 hp sand filter and all is good and no new holes will need to be made just connect inlet and outlet hoses ...works like a dream and really helps with chemical disbursement. Do not use play sand in the filter !!! FYI
Buddy, if you get a lot of rain, it’s going to drop the chlorine levels. Throw some shock (powder or liquid) in and run the filter either during the or at night. Also, the PH will maintain the chlorine level so check it periodically. ❤

This is funny I did the same thing all by myself when I had my pool, I used the tunes from my skimmer and it worked great, I didn't think it was hard at all, I know thing I'm making it up but I never had a man around to help me, I will tell you I miss my pool now but I good luck 😊
I thought I would comment that may or may not help somewhat. I’m not certain if your paper filter has something like this or not. We had what I always called our Barbie pool that had that type of paper filter. We were always replacing them because they would break down so fast. My neighbor also had a pool and he came up with an ingenious idea and it really helped. He cut a piece if pvc and drilled holes in it to support that paper filter and they lasted a lot longer and all you had to do was rinse them to clean them. It fit right in the center of the paper filter. Just a thought.
Now it it was my pool I would build a nice are about 1/4 Or 1/2 way around the pool so you cam sit up there and watch or talk to someone in the pool if you want to talk or get in and get our. You could put the way to enter and get out of the pool into the small patio like area around the part of the pool and have an area for the pool cleaner to sit up there kind of boxed in not tight though. You guys could just sit out there on that patio next to the pool if you didn't want to get in and just have a drink of what ever your heart desires and maybe some kind of tasty snacks just for fun. Just a suggestion. My aunt had a large pool like that when I was growing up and she built a patio and way to get in and out of the pool from the patio she built around the pool. We absolutely loved it. We would sit out there in the evening and have party food or dinner. We would have lunch there sometimes also. The water always made it cooler here in the valley of California. What ever you go it will be great. 15:58

My sand filter for our in ground pool has these “fingers” called laterals that spin & keep the sand stirred up inside the filter. If your filter works properly without them that’s even better because they can crack & end up with dirt in & sand in the pool.

Rain always seems to turn the water green unless you have enough Chlorine in it! Add more chemicals and it will clear it right up! Buddy, you're so smart! The rain delegates the chorine. You must up your chlorine level. A filter is not going to kill algie, chlorine is.....😊

I suggest one of those underwater vacuums that you run early before anyone uses the pool and will clean along the bottom

We used a second hand pump from a bigger pool and my husband re piped it to fit the existing holes. Works fantastic
