Great word Ed! We appreciate you speaking truth. Here’s a quote I think you’d appreciate from a former army ranger and author Chuck Holton “Self-discipline is the act of choosing the difficult right over the comfortable wrong. It is the practice of controlling one’s will. Recognizing the bent of human nature to follow the path of least resistance, the self-disciplined individual chooses the neglected path of the hard road. A disciplined person knows that discomfort is the stimulus for all growth. Self-discipline, then, isn’t just about learning to accept discomfort, but choosing it for the sake of personal growth.”
I found kind of a "brain hack" for myself practicing discipline and keeping promises to myself. When I keep promises to myself, I feel a sense of gratitude because I know that activity moves the needle towards my goals. So not only do I take a step forward, but I am also giving myself a sense of gratitude and making myself feel good, which, for me, is a great benefit of self-discipline.
Every time i dont want to do something i told myself i would do, i say to myself: I dont let other people down, so I'm not going to let myself down. That usually helps get me moving to do it whether i want to or not.
And WHEN did I turn on this message? As this week's conversation with Garrain ended...and I pondered skipping abs, and heading to Phase 3 of my workout (Peloton cycle). Nope!!. Back on the mat...here we grow again. Thank you Ed!! P.S. Self-discipline in all areas of my life, especially over the past 2 years: zero alcohol, regular exercise, daily gratitude (pen to paper), acts of kindness, nightly foot-rub for my Tina, making dinner together, cheering people on...and listening to your podcasts.
1. Genius is 99% perspiration, practice can be boring, but do it with intention and focus. 2. Let the other guy get nervous. Sooner or later, they are going to rush and make a mistake. 3. Don’t just dominate, just intimidate. Don’t even talk to the other guys. Don’t think like everyone else. 4. Have a sense of the historic. Give yourself a context of the significance of your self-discipline. Be the one, make history. This ensures you are always ready for the BIG one. Stay ready, be ready. You are one more meeting, or decision away from changing your life. Day to day have self-discipline. 6. Never ever be satisfied. Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan, Wayne Gretzky worked even harder after they won their first titles to dominate their sport.
Ed, nobody goes this deep into the championship mindset like you do. You are a true treasure, and obviously you practice what you preach! Grateful for you. #maxout
Ed I’m your biggest fan! When I log in you always have the best message, best guests and best intentions! I’m so grateful to you. I’m a Marine Corps veteran in Virginia Beach about to pursue a divorce (from an abusive narcissist sociopath) and sell our house to divide the proceeds and relocate to Texas. I know no one in Texas but took a 4 day trip to house hunt 2 weeks ago because of their incentives for Veterans. I’ve been separated for years but the soon to ex is non stop horrible. Some days I awaken and can’t get out of here fast enough…other days I feel stuck and overwhelmed. The homes 🏡 in Texas are motivating me but getting myself and my son to safety and peace ☮️ is most important. Your videos are motivating me as well. Thank you for just being you. You are awesome! 👏
This inspired me today…I know the “little things” really do make a difference and add up to big things! I cleaned my kitchen, took my vitamins, drank water, and worked out a bit while listening 😉. (Disciplines that are hard for me but make a HUGE difference) Thanks again Ed ❤
Dude, I love Netflix shows as well, but I’ve reserved that time for the end of the day with my wife. Don’t get me wrong, I DO struggle with staying on top of my vision. So many things can come up throughout the day that steal your focus, especially when you’re working for yourself. Yoga/stretching, man that changed everything. Guys like us love weights and we’ll always do that, but things like stretching, deep breathing, and I started doing these mini-meditations have really boosted everything in my productivity and life.
I remember reading that article too back then and I thought that he was an Overcomer and I was proud of him. I had absolutely no goal for it to be me. I wasn’t even in the same room. I was raising kids and unaware of any need or desire to be or do more! Thank you for making me think.
Ed- I just wanted you to know that you are such an amazing, humble man! Those little things we do every day, such as laying our clothes out, prepping the coffee maker, etc., those "small things" are actually the BIG THINGS in life! We must be disciplined in order to GROW. We must put 100% into everything we do! You always have the right videos at the right time! I look forward to each and every video, and I feel as if I speak for many people following you! Keep on keeping on my brother! Hi Ed, I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all of your great videos. I've been watching your videos for a while now, and I've learned so much from them. Your videos are always informative and entertaining, and I always walk away feeling inspired. I especially appreciate the tips you've given me on self-discipline. I've been struggling with self-discipline for a while now, but your videos have given me some great tools to help me improve. It's not one of the easiest things to talk about, but I'm so glad that I'm doing it. I know that self-discipline is a skill that takes time and effort to develop, but it's definitely worth it. If you're struggling with self-discipline, I encourage you to keep working at it. I also do the things you do.. make my bed every morning, have schedules made for each day, lay clothes out the night before, pack lunches the night before, I have my gallon of water ready the night before too, have the kids clothes laid out the night before, put things away after I use them, schedule my weekly meals, lay out my daily vitamins the night before, and go to bed at a certain time so I can wake up on time! Some people laugh and say I’m ocd, I just think I’m disciplined.

It's not one of the easiest things to talk about, but I'm so glad that I'm doing it. I've always been self-conscious about my double chin, and I'm finally starting to feel like I can do something about it.
I know that self-discipline is a skill that takes time and effort to develop, but it's definitely worth it. If you're struggling with self-discipline, I encourage you to keep working at it. It's one of the best things you can do for yourself.
Thank you again for all of your great videos. I really appreciate your help!
Sincerely,
Sam Jennings

So good. I love the HOW! These things need to be taught. Thank you Ed.
Phew! Just found your content! Timing is perfect! Thank you.
Hi Ed , I want to Thankyou for making so relatable content . All the problems and strategies to overcome them are so real. Unlike other content on TH-cam. Your content feels realistic and doable also we connect with your content because you yourself implement and then make videos. Keep doing it . Also we love your solo videos .
Ed, thank you. 🙏
Look at you glowing and looking very youthful!! Thank you for always being humble and genuine! A goal of mine is to join your team one day 🙌🏼💜
I also do the things you do.. make my bed every morning, have schedules made for each day, lay clothes out the night before, pack lunches the night before, I have my gallon of water ready the night before too, have the kids clothes laid out the night before, put things away after I use them, schedule my weekly meals, lay out my daily vitamins the night before, and go to bed at a certain time so I can wake up on time! Some people laugh and say I’m ocd, I just think I’m disciplined.
Tiers of joy …. And I’m the right track so proud of my self
Love it Ed, especially the part about mind going auto pilot is so true with what positive actions roll on to manifest.
