    The REV’IT! Horizon 2 Jacket is a versatile jacket that provides riders with an affordable alternative to expensive waterproof laminate touring jackets. The Horizon 2 Jacket is constructed with PWR | 2L shell laminated with a hydratex membrane in order to create a strong outer shell that is highly water resistant. Additional features of the REV’IT! Horizon 2 Jacket include SEEFLEX CE-level 2 protectors on the elbows and shoulders, the option for a CE-level 2 back protector insert, and a detachable thermal liner.

    As a better overall jacket, should I get the sand urban or the horizon 2? Great vid!

    I love how this has the waterproofing in the shell and not a removable waterproof layer. A lot of the reviews for this say that its not for the summer. What options in this design/price would be good for summer touring and everyday riding?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you want a hip-length jacket for the summer, definitely look at the REV'IT! Levante. It has big mesh panels for ventilation, big cargo pockets, and a removable waterproof/thermal liner for cold/wet weather. It's hard to get enough ventilation for summer with a fixed waterproof membrane. -DrewZilla

    This looks awesome but I'm hoping it doesn't stop them from doing a Vapor 2 with SeeFlex and direct venting on the pants.

    Hello and thank you for all the reviews, they are really useful!
    I am gonna buy a new jacket (currently owning an 11 years old and short Dainese D-Dry) and live in the Netherlands(meaning loads of rain). I am between the Horizon 2 and the Neptune 2 GTX. Currently not using the motorcycle so much but after COVID expected to commute to work almost every day. Definitely wanna use it also during Dutch summer and in general I am a person sweating very much and easily.
    Considering that both options are long and I solve the issue of getting water between my pants and the jacket, which one of these 2 do you recommend?
    Moreover do you think I should invest in changing the zipper on the pants (or jacket) to a new one to attach them, or not needed anymore? My main concern is if connecting pants and jacket offers any extra level of safety.
    Thank you in advance

    How long you can drive in rain before the membran give up compared to laminated goretex.And is the
    breathability much better in laminated goretex.

    would you say the PWR 500D/1000D 2L (2 layers ? ) technology on the Horizon 2 is stronger or weaker than the 600 D polyester with Teflon coating on the Netpune 2 GTX ?

    This V/S the Sand 3, is the sand 3 worth the extra money? primarily for hot climate riding

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      For hot climate riding, yes the Sand 3 is worth the extra money, because you can fully remove the waterproof liner for much better ventilation compared to the Horizon 2. -DrewZilla

    Is the only adjustement at the cuffs a velcro? So gloves (Dainese Ergotour GTX for example) go over the top instead of inside the jacket I guess? Not a fan of that because it allows rain to get into the gloves, I was looking at either this or the Spidi X tour or Dainese Carve Master but this is the only one with level 2 armor everywhere so it's a shame about the cuffs.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only adjustment is the Velcro at the cuffs, but the Ergotour Gloves' cuffs are slim enough to still fit inside the jacket. -DrewZilla

    I’m looking to replace a Dainese D-system suit here, I’m also thinking I want to get into some off road riding but still mostly road (FJR and S1000RR). I really like the d system set up but would like some more ventilation, otherwise it’s been simply outstanding. I’d love the Defender but I’m not sure about stretching the budget that far. That leaves me with this or the Sand 3. Recommendations or other suggestions? 5’7” 170lbs.

    • @dougjurcich7479
      @dougjurcich7479 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      By the way I’m in Minnesota and we can get stupid hot some days, the FJR can really stifle the wind blast...

      I also have looked at the Dainese X-tourer, how does that compare?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For REV'IT!, I'd go with the Sand 3 for its increased ventilation, especially with the waterproof liner removed. However, I'd actually go with the Dainese X-Tourer, as it offers even more ventilation than the Sand 3. -DrewZilla

      @@RevZilla I have been watching/ drooling over the videos of the Rev'it stuff and it looks like very well thought out and stylish stuff. In your opinion how does it stack up to the Dainese stuff? Like I said it really seems to be very premium, stout stuff.

    • @RevZilla

    Hi! Both my girlfriend and I have this jacket and we both experience an issue: The shoulder armors seem not to sit in place, they are a bit backwards, uncovering the frontal part of the shoulder bone. I mention that the sizes are correct as per Rev It size chart. The problem is that the armors move along with the 3D mesh of the jacket and not by themselves in their pocket. Is this normal as the armors are supposed to cover the entire shoulder in a riding position with the arms towards the handlbar? Thanks.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's normal for the armor to move with the jacket, and in the riding position, the armor should cover the outside and back of your shoulder. It won't really cover the front of the shoulder nor the collarbone. In a crash, you're more likely to impact the side and back of your shoulder. -DrewZilla

    Which jacket would perform better in the sumer: this one of the dainese carve master 2 which has a non removable gore tex liner which is not laminated?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      They're both about the same for summer, which is to say they're not the best. The Horizon 2 has direct venting at the chest, so you get great airflow, but there's not much other venting. The Carve Master 2 has more vents, but the vents just vent to the waterproof liner, not to the body. -DrewZilla

    Very good review. I'm using a Revit Legacy Gtx, dameged by an accident. I've a M size, for the Horizon, can I buy the same size? Has it the same protection from cold and rain? Thanks.

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it has similar protection from the cold and rain, and size medium (M) should be correct. -DrewZilla

    For very cold?

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Since it has the WP and the removable thermal liner, you could wear this down to very cold temperatures but it also has to do with your own temperature tolerances. If you get cold easily, think about pairing this with a heated jacket liner for those longer cold highway rides. - Pat

    Will this jacket do well in the winter months with the liner in to keep me warm and how well is the slide protection compared to cordura like on the hawker dianese jacket I looked at but it looks like that jacket is a sport cut compared to this jacket

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, this jacket does quite well in the winter months, and for slide protection, you get 500D main construction and 1000D in the impact areas. That's actually a bit better than the Boomerang and Duratex fabric used on the Dainese Hawker. -DrewZilla

      I have this jacket it's plenty warm enough. I also love the laminated waterproof membrane which gives you direct venting it's excellent! No more being dry but feeling the cold from the rain, the water does not get through the first layer here. I haven't tested slide protection but it feels pretty solid if you ask me especially in the impact areas and the CE level 2 Seeflex armor is a big step up from the dainese armor and you hardly notice it.

      So the outside shell stays dry? Does the water just bead off? I'm between the horizon 2 and the sand 3.

    • @adamperkins3125
      @adamperkins3125 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nick Am yes the water beads off, the inside of the outer shell never gets wets. And it is laminated so it's bonded to the outer shell it's not just stitched on to it hence the direct venting. In the sand 3 the water will go through the outer shell layer and then stop at the waterproof membrane if you have it inserted.

    • @nickam4100
      @nickam4100 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the speedy response. So just to clarify, after a rain, the outter part of the shell wont be soaked? Also, what's the hottest day you can withstand with it with open vents? I ask because I assume the bonded material won't breathe as much as it would with just the shell on your skin. Thanks for your time and info, I really appreciate it.

    At 4:43 you say its non waterproof...

    • @RevZilla
      @RevZilla  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      He misspoke. He meant to say it's non-removable, i.e. the waterproof membrane is bonded. Therefore, having direct ventilation is important, since the waterproof membrane is fixed. Sorry for any confusion! -DrewZilla
