Fantastic videos. Thank you for your service. My reason to sew... PREPPER-ation. We all lived through C19, and many lived before, through crazy times like that. If the grid goes down, you have water, grow your own food, can do basic hunting/fishing, and can fix things around your home but cannot sew, then a critical part of self-reliance is missing. Sewing is my current lack. Thanks for helping to fix that.
Wow am so glad I saw your video, I myself teach kids sewing now over 5years , I love it so much and it is so amazing to see those kids growing and they are amazing and I believe anyone can see . Thanks By listening to you it’s like I am Listen to my 😊. To me it’s is important for kids to sew is first to learn a skill for life and to slow down fast fashion and nothing is more satisfying when you make something and as you said putting all the effort into it they will respect more their clothes and anything else. Looking forward for more content xx
I taught my daughter-in-law how to sew, many friends how to sew and all my grandchildren how do so boys and girls and now my oldest great-granddaughter is 4 years old and I will let her experience sewing some pretty stitches
Thanks for your video. I just shared it with one of my friends whose little one has an interest in sewing. Your content seems like a great place to start. God Bless.
@@hartfordstitch6571 Thank you for taking the time to respond. We used card stock paper to teach them speed control. We let the foot do the feed, they laughed and smiled. They had so much fun.
I have taught kids as young as 4 in my studio. Obviously that is very hand over hand and limited in what they do. By 6 they can really start to remember the steps and complete projects on their own with supervision. By 8 most are ready for group classes. Of course these are generalizations and every child is different!
@@hartfordstitch6571 thanks for your input. My granddaughter is 5 and loves picking out fabric and creating fabric collages that imitate quilts. I'm just waiting for her to get big enough to reach the foot pedal if I put the sewing machine on a student size desk.
You got this! In many ways I teach adults and kids the same way. It’s step-by-step, assume you’re starting from scratch, repeat as often as necessary. You can just move through projects faster (usually). I’ve also learned that while kids always want to put their own creative fingerprint on each project, adults usually like to learn how they “should do it” first. Then they’ll put their own twist on a project. Have fun with it!
I am teaching an after school program non-profit . I volunteere 5-11 ages I havebeen sewing for 30 years I love it.

my 7yo granddaughter is learning to sew. I just sent this video to my daughter.
Yep if they would have just told me that geometry was just sewing math I would have passed.. lol
Why you didn’t use Industrial sewing machine ?
I am starting off teaching some home schooled 8-12 year olds, where should I start?
I like to start simple worth a wallet, pillow, and tool roll up. Repetitive projects that allow kids to put their own creative stamp on it!

What age do you recommend a child begin to use a sewing machine, assuming they are interested? Is six years old too young?

Checkout my video on setting up a sewing space and you’ll see how I set up a space for smaller kids so she doesn’t have to wait to grow first!
@@hartfordstitch6571 thanks
Believe it or not I nervous about teaching adults lol that’s next.
