I work for an emergency medical service in a beach community We've also recently started doing water rescues (someone pulled out by a riptide, blown out on a boogie board). We use an inflatable boat. The ESD only has one marine radio. Im considering buying my own. I usually stay on shore and direct my guys. Should i put my personal info in?
How long after you submit your registration, you will receive your MMSI#, I completed mine and absolutely nothing happened, no even a customer service number to find out what is happening...
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon Most of the lakes I visit have Sheriffs patrolling the lake. Sometimes you see Fish and Game too. No coast guard. I haven't seen Boat Us or Sea Tow at any of my lakes. They don't seem to be in CA that much. I got the VHF just in case I don't have cell service or I venture into the Delta that IS patrolled by the USCG.
Thanks! exactly the information I tried to find! other videos didnt cover a lot of this.

Thank you!

I would
For your call sign can a Ham Radio call sign be used?
@@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon That would make sense, Ty.
If I have two radios aboard my boat (newer handheld as well as a newer installed VHF), would I need to register two MMSI numbers?
If I don’t have a boat can I still put a random number in. Does it matter what number it is?
No value in a number that's not registered

So you need nema network to have the VHF hail your gps coordinates
Yes and no some have built in gps.
I have anew handheld VHF radio. I only boat on inland fresh water lakes. Should I get a MMSI # ?
