They'll have to, no other countries would be willing to put their troops in the way of Russia. The negotiations around neutrality will involve a moratorium on military bases etc. and Russian troops would man the other side of the DMZ.

A Russian secretary in the Foreign Ministry said in the early 2000s that Putin was going to take Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria, Georgia, Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Slovakia, Czech Republic, etc. Putin’s goals were re-expansion of the Russian empire to its “rightful territories”.
Didn’t work out well, thanks to this conflict Finland joined NATO and added 800+ miles of NATO border with Russia. Sweden also joined NATO with a powerful modern military. Rest of NATO are all getting stronger and more united. Putler wins NATO recruitment agent of the decade 😂😂

How is Russia winning? 1015 days into their 3 day special military operation and they have taken less than 15% of Ukraine, have lost hundreds of thousands of soldiers, economy is getting wrecked and NATO stronger than ever. They have not won, they have made some gains in the Donbass but one battle will not win them the war. If the West were serious about supplying enough weapons Russia would lose quickly.
russian and ukraine are heading for a stalemate - russia is losing strategically (huge loss of manpower and equipment ) - whereas ukraine is losing tactically (metre by metre) - but we should consider that the current ukraine is brought into nato with the rest of the land being disputed and keep up the sanctions on russia so they will give in eventually - putin is becoming an old man and russia is no country for old men

The Kursk invasion has quite obviously been a disaster for Ukraine, they have lost their best units and equipment in exchange for basically gaining some rural parts of the province, they are nowhere near the city of Kursk itself. Even if it did persuade the Russians to hold off from attacking Zaporizhie, then so what? It was a crazy move, driven by PR rather than military strategy.

The only possible way for this war to end with Ukraine retaining its sovereignty is similar to that Finland did in 1945. Agree to losing a part of its territory, the permanent neutrality and complete lack of any aggressive actions towards Russia. Finland was perfectly safe under all those conditions through all the second half of the 20th century. And most Western historians even spun this into "Finland winning the war against Soviets because it had remained independent."

The whole of Nato are already involved and supporting Ukraine. Article 5 does not actually oblige any country to any specific action. Each country can respond in whatever way it sees fit. There is no Article 5 requirement to sent troops to fight.

Kherson zaporizia donetsk and luhansk become Russia provinces. That’s the starting point.
