after trimming the seam allowance for about an inch down from the point I used some small hemostats and pinched the point. then I put a 1/4" dowel into the wide end of the hat. I pushed the hemostats against the dowel and pushed the hat up and over against the hemostats. Once I had about 1/2 to 1' into the hat I gently opened and carefully removed the hemostats then pushed the dowel into the top where the hemostats had been and pushed the dowel into the hat. Difficult to explain but I think you can get the idea. I was able to get the hat turned fairly easily with this method.
