This was the first LP song I ever heard and I was so moved by it that I sat in my car for a few minutes and cried. I knew my mom, who had died about a year and a half before, would have loved this song and this singer too and it was hard to know that I couldn’t share this with her. I emailed LP to tell her how deeply I was touched by her amazing singing and about my mom. I never expected her to answer, but if there was a chance that she could hear how her music made me feel, I felt I owed her that much. SHE EMAILED ME BACK. She said her beloved mother was also gone but that maybe our moms were both in heaven singing together. Moral of the story-not only is LP an amazing vocalist, she is also a kind, humble, beautiful, good human.

Wow. This song also helped me to go through my mother’s loss. Everytime when i couldn’t hold myself due to loss, i’d always listen to this song several times and after i’d be either crying or calm down. Beautiful song

Nothing gets me emotional quicker than hearing a song that I know my husband would have loved. Music was a big deal in our relationship and I miss that so much.

Everyone knows it'll happen eventually, but almost everyone I know who has lost a parent, no matter their age, felt unprepared and deeply affected by their loss. I know that not everyone has loving parents, and those losses are difficult in a different way. I try to focus on knowing that the more you love that person, the more painful it is to lose them. ❤️

I'm so glad she's finally getting recognition, she's pretty amazing and she's a composer, she's written songs for Rihanna and the Backstreet Boys, she's been around for a looong while.
When I heard the tone of her voice I became mesmerized. Such an unique voice. I am making this one of my favorite songs... And I am a metalhead..That speaks a lot I guess.

This woman is a gift from the music gods to make life suck less. She was raised in an opera home and has learned to use vocalizations to make her music more intriguing. I would recommend watching other videos because she does this effortlessly. I am going crippled and literally will ALWAYS try to find a seat or hang onto a barricade to hear her perform live. Ive not loved a voice this much since Freddie Mercury.

In all honesty I've never found anyone that intrigues me as much as freddie does but her voice is so beautiful. She has such a similar style to Freddie's performance, it makes me feel like she feels free. I love her and I just found her a week ago I'm obsessed.

Also would like to add that her mom was a classically trained opera singer and that she is super aware of what she’s doing with her voice. I would recommend looking into some of her other performances to really get a good grasp of her capabilities.
Oh yeah, totally! To play devil's advocate however, and as a classically trained singer myself, she may not be aware of all of the physical movement in the muscles in the neck, throat and larynx. I wasn't specifically aware until I took a biology class on these muscles and their interactions with the voice. Pretty cool stuff!

Her cover of “Halo” is truly something to behold. I would like to add that she’s been around for a while, so I think her voice is probably fine. I’ve seen her live and the sound she gets out of her tiny body is incredible.

Ex: my NP loves Rage Against the Machine, but can't stand Zach Delarocha's voice
I'm like that with Miley Cyrus. Her voice suits my taste perfectly, it's just her music that I can't listen to.
As for LP, her music is not exactly my genre either, but it's so good quality and interesting that I can get over it.
This also sometimes happens with musicians, especially classic guitarists. Sometimes I just feel like listening to amazing guitar playing and I easily forget that I don't like the genre, composition and even the instrument very much.

Kinda wish you had touched on her whistling during your review, but I think you were talking or distracted every time she whistled. Was blessed to see her live...she is amazing. She maintained the high notes and the intensity for freaking two hours...I don't know how she does it and still is able to talk the next day. Was blown away. It did not feel like she was trying to be careful or preserve her voice.. it's like she literally gave it all to the audience..and then do that again next day as she was on a tour...just amazing

Saw her in a small bar in Cleveland Ohio when she opened for a local band. She sang “I’m Goin’ Nowhere”. I fell in love with her. She’s a tiny but mighty power house. I’m so glad she has become huge. She deserves every bit of success that comes her way. Love, love her. ❤️❤️❤️

I loved this video. I particularly liked that you didn't know her so you were sincere and honest with every comment. I'm not a singer myself, but I'm a big fan of vocal coach videos and I have to say that Sam probably has the best all around vocal reactions. Always a nice balance between generous and critical, always lots to learn and discover too, and I never feel like he is pretending or faking. Also love the supportive and encouraging attitude he exhibits toward his audience and the artists he evaluates. Sam, if you are out there, keep up the good work!

Can you possibly make a video about straight tone vs. vibrato? I naturally sing with a straight tone but was told that vibrato is a natural sound that is supposed to be there
Mitchell Guerra some people have a lot less natural vibrato. They probably meant more that if you don’t have vibrato, you can’t force it because it’s not natural
