      Dear this is how Fire with Fire ends up in exhaustion. It becomes a scorched sword bringing torment and misery to all of your people. Think and act constructively rather completely annihilating yourself with the architects of conspiracy theory. Embrace the Brave new world with Faith, Optimism and Constructive Change. What happened in Syria can also be put as a revenge in Afghanistan by Power Player Fights. When the stakes get too high just focus on your own national interest. Think about removing hunger, poverty, disease, employment and quality of living not just in Syria but also in Yemen , Iraq and Afghanistan etc. Empower yourself by Enlightenment and End centuries old animosity which is eating your country like a Cancer. It would great to see Iran, Syria and Yemen playing constructive part to provide jobs employment and quality life style just like People of Gulf and KSA are enjoying at the moment. The whole world and international community is watching very carefully your moves. Do not bring destruction to your own people and country by careless moves and irrational attitude by clinging to an ideology which has given you nothing except hate, revenge and envy. May God Almighty Bless You, Guide You and Shine You on the Path of Peace, Prosperity for your people and country.

      @@jakeroberts585 China do plenty of meddling and bullying. They just don't do it with conventional weapons. I would agree they don't resort to the same levels of destruction as Western powers though. China does meddle in south-east Asia in a very similar way to how the US meddles in South America. Nations like Laos and Cambodia are now essentially Chinese proxy states. I definitely wouldn't say that China are minding their own business. They have been busy spreading their influence over almost every nation in south east asia, southern Asia, the pacific islands and many countries in Africa. Basically all the nations that the US and Russia don't really care about in their fixation with oil, the Middle East and each other.

    Very informative. Syria is turning into an example of US foreign policy post Clinton Administration. Originally the goal was to overthrow the Syrian government outright but that policy failed when the Syria Arab Army put up too much of a fight and to large a segment of the Syrian population didn't join the rebellion. Obama did try to get into a shooting war but thought better of it when it became obvious it would lead to war with Russia. This lead to a new phase and that is breaking up the country along the lines of the breakup of Yugoslavia. The goal is to create small, nonviable countries drawn along ethnic lines.
    The wild card are the Kurds. They are very useful to the US but potentially very untidy. The US used them to help break up Iraq and granted them control of Iraq's northern oil reserves. Looks like now they will occupy farmland. I don't think the US will permit the Kurds to actually form a nation state as this would likely lead to some kind of war with Turkey. Instead what you will probably see is a defacto state like the Kurds have had in northern Iraq since the first Gulf War. It isn't much but it is better than no state at all. What it will be is a landlocked region totally beholding to the US for its existence. Such a quasi state would serve as a home to various US bases and a built in excuse for military interventions for decades to come.
    The modern era of history lead to the rise of the Nation State. Now we are entering a new period where states aren't really created but in their place will be extended disputed zones. They will function as US colonies but won't even have the status that colonies had under the older model of European Imperialism.

      @Quickshot0 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not a necessity. More diplomatic paths for nation formation have occurred at times I believe.
      Though I'll admit that none of those involved nations sound like they want to cede any land for this project. Though effectively speaking at some points of time splitting a bit off of Iraq and Syria would have been possible. But those opportunities were not taken at the time. (As in, when both were weak during the fight against ISIS. If major powers had supported such an idea then, it would have probably had a chance)
      So at this point I guess it'll probably end up violent, yeah... well the alternative one was also only possible due to violence I guess.

      @@lanselithgow5865 nit pre aprising the kurds have been recognized as citizens by the time the war started but in the past some kurds hasn't been recognized because they ran away from the ottos or something like that so they were not old in the region as the rest( yes i know they existed 1000s of year before but by the time of like 1920 or close to that they didn't live in syria and yes they deserved to be syrians and what happened to then was unjust) bit even with all this that doesn't mean that they deserve to become independent as this land was syrian for 1000s of years but they deserve to have full right just as any other syrian

    Capturing Afrin is a military success, but not Victory.
    Everything depends IF the Turkish Army is able to pass Euphrates River. If Turkey will surround the numerous American bases..
    Such a movement will show the future of the Syrian Kurds, the future of the Americans in Nothern Syria.
    The city of Afrin is something on the ground. Maybe a fiesta of Erdogan to win the Hearts of all Turks and Muslims from Sudan to Bangladesh etc.
    As it seems the Americans need Nothern Syria as a Stronghold against the Iranian militia and not to destroy Turkey or to cut her in pieces. It is obvious that USA needs a Kurdish canton to stop Shia Iranians from spreading to Levante. Also by staying in Nothern Syria, the Americans have a voice against Russia about Assad's future.
    But Turkey's interests are closer to Iranian interests the last decade (Trade, gas, Kurdish minorities, gold, Qatar, anti-Americanism, anti-Israeli).
    "Terrorists" is a general accusation these days. Everyone hunting for Terrorists in this World, from East to West, Venezuela, Russia, Assad, USA, Turkey, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Myanmar, Israel, Qatar (which pays only the bill of Muslim brotherhood, Hamas, Hezbollah, Taliban. etc etc)

      It only takes one dead American soldier to make that plan go up in smoke. Erdogan is counting on American timidity. Let the news of dead Americans - dead by Turkish hands - escape, and you'll see one hell of a fireworks display all along the border. Killing Americans only pisses off other Americans, unless it's a long drawn out conflict. Turkey does not have the capabilities to keep up the offensive long-term if America decides to say "Fuck NATO" and bring its air-power into play. Erdogan is not dumb, if he thought the US would ever actually fight back he wouldn't have done it. Surrounding American bases means fuck-all if they're not willing to go all the way and capture them - and capturing them means a hell-fire of ordnance rains down on them. It's a catch-22.
      Erdogan is smart, and so he's grabbing as much land as possible before the Americans can get that 30,000-strong force onto the borders and hug them, essentially assuring Kurdish control. Turkey is a member of NATO, but the US *IS* NATO. Erdogan is making a smart move by projecting power outwards (showcasing American cowardice) as well as inward (kicking the Kurds), but it could easily backfire in a big way.

      ΔΑΙΔΑΛΟΣ / Daedalus If Turkey manages to keep Kurds in the east of Euphrates, she will win some more decades to solve the Kurdish issue in her own boundaries; since a possible Kurdistan without sea access and surrounded with hostile neighbors would be destined to be a dead born baby.
      I don't think that this operation is all in favor of Erdoğan. Even the Euphrates Shield has endured nearly one year despite suitable terrain and supportive inhabitants. Now, a mountainous terrain and mostly Kurdish population, it will cost lots of lives unfortunately.

      ''USA needs a Kurdish canton to stop Shia Iranians from spreading to Levante'' that could be actually true. If USA manages to create a YPG Kurdish border between Iraq and Syria it basically manages to isolate Syria. Iraq and Syria are both lost to Shia groups which means Iran has direct acces to the mediterean sea and Israel through Syria and Iraq.

    As a half turk and half kurd, the turkish military has to fail in afrin. The kurdish militia mustn't fail under any circumstances. There has to be a kurdish state in the middle east and at this point it doesn't matter where it gets established or if they're the majority in the certain area. With an additional exchange of populations future conflicts will be prevented, as an analogy to the turkish-greek agreement after the turkish independence war. If the middle east should ever want to stabilize there must be a kurdish state proportional to the population.

      The only time they've particularly cared was when ISIS was around, which was more of a problem.

      Assad and Moscow requested administrative power over the Afrin region, however, the kurds rejected it, then Russia said to Turkey Afrin is yours to attack. Since Russia has air superiority west of Euphrates river, Turkey couldn't attack with warplanes unless it was approved by Putin.

    • @jonseilim4321
      @jonseilim4321 6 ปีที่แล้ว +36

      Exactly! Ex-fucking-actly! It's stunning how many people can't put the pieces together.
      Russia worked really hard to build rapport with the Kurds, all through 2015-2017, and the Kurds repaid it by getting even closer to Washington, agreeing to that 30,000 strong Border Security Force showed that, whatever they wish for the future, a united Syria isn't it. And when the US announced their little plan for maintaining their share of power in the region, the hammer fell, and Turkey would no longer allow for a majority Kurdish entity on its borders.
      So Turkey wants the Kurds gone, Russia wants out, Syria wants its lands back, and the Kurds want to be recognised as a people group. A compromise that fulfilled most of those requirements was to allow the Syrian government to control Afrin, while àn autonomous Kurdish authority was allowed to manage the day to day affairs of Kurdish majority areas in Afrin. Russia gets closer to its dream of being a power broker, yet still be able to leave, Syria is acknowledged as the legitimate government, Turkey is assured that one, their wishes are being noted and included, two, that launching a military operation on Afrin was simply out of the question. The Kurds can laud that Russia, US, and Syria all support it, and need no longer fear an attack from Turkey, as well as ensuring future mutually beneficial agreements between it and Syria, and limited authority in their homelands, being able to use their language as the lingua franca.
      But with their pockets lined with gold from USA, who is unable to accept that they, like the west, has been shoved from having a say in Syria future, the Kurds refused the offer, and now they pay the price.

    • @Bayomeer
      @Bayomeer 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      I completely agree, but I don't think Putin gave Afrin to Erdogan as a gift, there must have been some exchange. My guess is that Erdogan agreed to let SAA liquidate the whole Idlib pocket, and we can see that happening right now.
