After watching your videos got inspired to indoctrinate another young soul. Ran this last weekend for my grandson, his 1st time ever playing D&D and an old grognard buddy of mine. Using old school Moldvay rules. We ended the session finishing the 1st level of the dungeon, the climactic battle with the orc chieftain, and the triumphant return to town with Alaric, albeit minus a retainer and Gutboy Barrel house, a Dwarven NPC. He loved it! And we're finishing part 2 this week to explore the lower level and see what Alaric felt as a greater evil.
RULES CYCLOPEDIA! Yes! I had an original and got rid of it. Who knew the OSR craze was just around the corner? I've since got my POD version from DrivethruRPG. No fold out maps but the book is even better than I remembered. And so pretty.
Just finished this campaign last week. It was real fun. I added some new characters to fit my fantasy setting and I also created the map to suit its region. Great story and fights.
Played last week for the first time with a group of five players who didn't know BECMI and it turned out a great introduction indeed, maybe lacking a bit of magic and marvel, but it made the players focus on basic combat and game mechanics. I have not been mastering basic D&D for decades and it felt refreshing. next one in line is B7 Rahasia. I went for a .pdf copy because, sadly, this side of the ocean prices for a phisical copy are even higher and I didn't buy it in the old days. Your review is, as always, spot on. Greetings from Italy.
Drive thru rpg are selling printed copies of this module. I better check as its very likely someone else pointed that out somewhere below! EDIT: Duly noticed that this is mentioned in this video as a pdf.

I used to go up the street to Kinko's Copy Center to run off copies if I needed character sheets.
Thanks again for the information!

This appears to do so!
Just ordered copies of both this and Queen's Festival!
My friends I pretty much used this adventure as the lead the adventure in everyone one of our campaigns when we were kids, I'm a fan.

The art in that module is really great, as you said. I want names, stats and backgrounds for that party!

Btw, who's idea was it to call a Mystaran module "King's Festival," and then NOT set it in Ierendi?
Round of 1 minute? Wasn't that Ad&d? IIRC BECMI had 10 second rounds.
He likely meant turns, but those are 10 minutes.
With Queen's Harvest a great first pair of adventures.
Can you do Crown or Ancient Glory next?
Next up is Queen's Harvest, then the Rules Cyclopedia. I can get Crown up in the next batch of four
Awesome!
Boooo... Floor tiles are garbage!
This is great. Thank you very much.
