    I need to get on the marabou bodies, no feather has as much sub-surface undulation as marabou. Although marabou just soaks water right away,, with a pattern that has a deer hair wing and palmered hackle it should still float very well. I like this one a lot, thanks!

    I lived in Cassel and knew Bob. A great tyer and friend. He always told me not to tie the pattern too bulky, keep it sparse. I,ve tied the body in many materials matching where I fished. It was a killer fly on Hat creek there in Cassel. Bob knew the Fall river like the back of his hand. Really miss him!

    I trimmed the hackle too, then the oldtimers in Eastern ID told me that was all wrong. The fly should sit on the water perpendicular to the surface film with its ass end below the surface film. The full untrimmed circular circumference of the wound hackle keps the wing pointing straight up, just like the natural. Elk hair is a great wing material for the larger Quiggly Cripples too.
