When the flower blooms and falls off, the bracket that holds it which is green in other plants but red on this plant (sepals/calyx) begins to grow and become petallike. The green seed pod (the actual fruit) seen in a pile on the ground at 2:26 is discarded or kept until dry for the seeds to be replanted. The leaves of this plant are edible. In India, they are cooked like a spinach.
I love roselle flower tea and jam. The dried fruit is such a wonderful idea and would be a tasty and healthy treat with the floral fruit tea! Definitely going to have to try this.

I imagine it tastes like cranberries for some reason. It’s such a beautiful botanical.
It does have taste similar to cranberry, but less acidic. Once you drink hibiscus tea, you'll never want soda again.
