I once saw these guys open their set with this and Matt started puking during the solo. Not once did he mess up. It was at that moment I realized what I wanted to do with my life and that's play Rock N Roll.
I saw them at an outdoor street festival about ten years ago. Didn't know too much about them. Got there early, and some wasted, shirtless-shoeless roadie dude was setting up Matt's stage rig. Looked like he had slept in the gutter, dirty and disheveled. Imagine my surprise when that dude, minutes later, strapped on the axe and started blasting. It was Matt! Much love and respect.
Sons of Thunder is a masterpiece, it's the only song that takes your spirit to the depths of the night mountain and shows the secret sensations of your mind and soul with serenity and clarity.
Three hundred sworn brothers of the Night's Watch had ridden north, two hundred from Castle Black and another hundred from the Shadow Tower. It was the biggest ranging in living memory, near a third of the Watch's strength. They meant to find Ben Stark, Ser Waymar Royce, and the other rangers who'd gone missing, and discover why the wildlings were leaving their villages.
each listen nets more nuances and cheshire cat mental grins because these folks in this band past/present.........outsane...........i mean....it is said a soul selects it's 'general purpose intent and fancy and i tell ya...."hm....this time I am ....uh...oh yea...I want to music...be amazing at it and amaze at it"

something similar happened to me too!
Great story
similar here, but the bearded hobo setting up the bass next to Matt happened to be Al Cisneros in the flesh. I sobered up instantly.
