  • The inside leg lock position in (no gi) jiu jitsu goes by many names (411, Honey Hole, Saddle, etc.). It is the most dominant leg locking position when it comes to risk vs reward. This is my preferred attacking position for leg lock attacks with the highest finish rates (heel hook, aoki lock, and knee bar).
What is the inside (411) position? It's where we have both our feet inside our opponents legs. It's name comes because ithe triangle on your legs makes a "4" with the figure four lock and your opponent's legs make the "11".
This inside leg locking position allows us to do 3 main things:
    1) Helps protect our own legs/feet from your opponent's leg attacks/submission attempts.
    2) Creates a frame with our knee to make it harder for our opponent to put weight into us and/or grip fight.
    3) Allows us to access both legs better to both control and attack from.
