I agree with the list because I have visited each of those places but to add Iloilo city was the safest Philippine place to retire except its expensive than most places in the Philippines. if I had to choose, I had the most fun in Dumaguete because I am an ocean front person, I walk the ocean and there is a Starbucks across the street. if I have a Starbucks coffee and an ocean I am sold

Planning to make the move soon myself. Great information and advise for anyone thinking of looking to retire in the Philippines. Personally, with the past couple years, I didn't get the chance to scout out possible places to settle, so when I do get over there, I'll already be retired. I figure I'd just take the first 3-12 months to check out the various areas before actually settling. Just wish I could've made the trips earlier as I always enjoyed the times I was there, but only visited a few areas.

I love the places you recommended..due diligence first....totally different than most people that posted in YT. Definitely one of the best videos I have seen, well explained..with prices..keep up the good work. Taal Volcano is givin you a hint.....don't go back there dude. Liked and subscribed. One key thing for most retired people is good access to medical. In future videos I believe you might want to include information on that. My wife is from Laguna. Tagaytay is the town she want to live in. She said it s cooler there too.

Nice video Jay I think I might move to one of these places here in the Philippines the only reason I'm living in a province area is because of my parents and my dogs I'd like to move to a city maybe like Cebu or Manila Because I've grown up in cities most of my life and I live far away from any malls which I don't like but I just have to tough it out for now moving to another place is a really big decision 🆒👍😎

I've been to pretty much all of those places other than Dumaguete (although I do have friends who are TH-camrs there) and those are all great places. Our condo is in the city of San Fernando, Pampanga and I love it there (going back full time this October) but a few other great places I've been to are Antipolo, Iloilo City, Subic Bay and Clark. So many to choose from. :)

I am a retired expat living with my Filipina wife in Davao. What you say about the city is very true, especially noting that typhoons don't hit this close to the equator. However, you totally omitted one real and serious danger for Davao--EARTHQUAKES. They are real and some have been devastating. I am living here despite that danger, but I know one is possible and that it could destroy my house and everything around me and my wife.

Bohol is not in the list...
    Yes, don't retire in Bohol.
    Lots are 5x Cebu.
    Houses 7x.
Because cement and steel bars are made in Cebu.
Roofings, tiles, fixtures, etc sourced from Cebu.
Sand and gravel sourced from other islands.

I think the provinces are much better. I live in Quezon province about 3 hours SE of Manila. I can go to the NCR when I need to but the province is cheaper, less crime and no pollution. The weather is cooler in the province. Fewer drunk expats complaining that the Philippines is not as advanced as their home country. That is my opinion. Thank God we all don't like the same thing.

The only thing expensive in Iloilo is the electricity, but now, it's improving for the better. The cost of living is a bit much higher than Bacolod or Dumaguete but not that much. It also have better schools(some are even better than in Manila). I know, because, I've graduated highschool there, and don't have much issues getting into MIT in college here in the states at only 16yrs. old(you graduate HS back in the day at 16 and I move to the US at that age). The infrastructure is much better than Bacolod or Dumaguete. The new part of the city when I visited last year pretty much looks and feels like BGC. The hospitals there are a ton better too. The whole city is bike friendly, I always travel by bike on the city whenever I go visit there(it's the only city within the PI with an actual/real bike lanes that's much better than in the US).
