So... maybe the beach isn't really in Amsterdam.... we had fun anyway.
P.S. Nate totally forgot to pay for parking that day in the app and got a big ticket. Oooops. : - (
As we work hard to get more videos out into the world, you can help us a ton with a like and subscribe. Thanks! - Nate and Katrina

Locals calling that beach "Amsterdam's beach" may have a pejorative undertone.
Note that Amsterdam ~borders on the "IJsselmeer" (IJssel is a river that feeds into this, now, "meer"=lake) that was "Zuiderzee" until a large dyke/dam was built to lock that large estuary off from the North Sea as a way to not have to adapt all the dykes around the Zuiderzee (Zuider=South[ern], zee=sea). Entry/exit of Amsterdam's old harbour used to be a tidal thing and may have required huge dock contraptions that could lift heavily loaded vessels a bit in order to get them into the harbour.
This is to say, there will be beaches to the East of Amsterdam that geographically and literally deserve to be called Amsterdam's beach.

Imagine, all that ticket money might have bought you a decent meal in a Michelin starred restaurant, rather than the usual vulgar empty calories.
Not sure it would generate traffic to this YT channel, though.

I'm binge watching your video's to reminisce the Netherlands. I immigrated to Portugal over 18 years ago and haven't been back in over 6 years. As a child trained as a lifeguard at Bloemendaal beach. From the title I taught they created some sort of sandy beach at Het IJ Behind Amsterdam CS. But then again some Americans think Amsterdam is a country by itself.

We know that it’s technically not Amsterdam but it is very close! Thanks for watching!

When you found this route, by car, your alternative for a brisk walk along the beach to "fetch a fresh nose" (Dutch idiom), is to go to the Parnassia parking with its entry way just before Bloemendaal aan Zee beach parking. Make a right into that drive way and collect the entry parking ticket that you pay upon return. From the parking lot, walk to the beach joint and either (with dog) descend to the beach for that walk, or ... . Going North, it is about a 4km walk to the Southern most IJmuiden beach joints and stop over there for some simple F&B if needed. The walk back (there's no point in PT to go back) will be 4km again. A good walking pace is about 5km/h so in that case 4km is 4/5th of an hour.
... Or at the Parnassia parking lot you can go into the National Park "Zuid Kennemerland". There's nature reserves from the North Sea canal (IJmuiden is at its South mouth) at least to Noordwijk. Roads cross through it East/West at least two times, so if you wanted to walk all the way North-South then you carefully need to mind where the entries and exits are.
At Parnassia there's zero chance of parking "tickets".
