    Hi Scribe. 52 year old guy here who spent many years of my life experiencing this music. I am blessed to have grown up in the era where music like this was being produced. Love the fact that you are taking the time to broaden your perspective and listen to some things that might not be so popular with your generation. Just seeing the look on your face sometimes when you make these videos is priceless and takes me back to a wonderful time in my life. Just wanted to mention you have a beautiful voice that reminds me a little of the late Karen Carpenter and you share her same spunky attitude. Most of your own videos I have seen are all hip hop and rap. Do you have any where you sing or have I missed them? You are very talented, keep up fighting for your goals and I'm sure you will make it. Please do a video covering the Carpenters and if you could cover or mix yourself one of their hits into your style would be awesome to see or hear. "Rainy Days and Mondays" or "Close to You." would really be interesting to hear you cover with your critique and vocally. God Bless!

    You need to hear Pink Floyd's albums from beginning to end. They are concept albums with themes and a flow to them. Listening to the individual tunes out of order does them a great injustice.

    "That synth" was the bomb / most high tech item back in the early/mid 70's (and archaic by today's standards); Pink Floyd were masters at using different combinations of voices, sounds (instrumental and non-instrumental) and layered instruments to create different moods and soundscapes. Glad you are enjoying - keep 'em coming!

    • @jonnylumberjack6223

    • @completecharleston7142
      @completecharleston7142 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@jonnylumberjack6223 With what I could find online, Rick Wright used an EMS VCS 3 synthesizer, plus a Hammond organ, ARP String Ensemble, and a Minimoog
      (which I believe was the first commercially available synthesizer) - I have a little personal experience with the latter,: a band I was in during late 70's / early 80s, the keyboardist had a MiniMoog, and also a PolyMoog, which was really cool and had lots of sounds and controls (but keyboards back then did not have memory to store sound settings, so he was often changing the controls to create the sounds he wanted for different songs and different parts of songs.) If you'd like extreme details of Rick Wright's gear - i found this: sparebricks.fika.org/sbzine28/WrightGear-rev156.pdf

  • @MrTech226
    @MrTech226 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Someone mentioned synths. Synths were fairly new back in the early 70's. Main player in the market is Moog. Pink Floyd were exploring experimental sounds and music for each album. If you watched live Pink Floyd concerts, you will notice there are 2 or more musicians (keyboardists) including late Richard Wright, founding member of Pink Floyd. David Gilmour has that many keyboardist for his solo tours too.

    My Dear... if you’re going to be “in the Business,” you got to know how this crazy shit works. It’s soulless. The Industry doesn’t give a damn and never did about who YOU really are or what you’re about. One word; money. This song was (depending on who you wish to believe) based on Syd Barrett’s (as well as most of the rest of the bands) disillusion with record companies, managers and whole lot of them... “Them”, being The Machine. It gets waaaaay deeper, but we don’t have the time. Please read the lyrics. Ciao.

    As with most Floyd songs there's more than one meaning. Specifically, it's about the music industry. Generally, it also addresses the 'everyman'. Meanings to do with power structures, money, capitalism, work and corporatism are all hinted at. As with all art, it's subjective nature means that there are few, if any, wrong meanings. Whatever meaning you get from it is 'right'. :)

    Pink Floyd stuff to listen to? Give 'On The Turning Away' (th-cam.com/video/ojf18wT_Xtk/w-d-xo.html) or 'One Slip' (th-cam.com/video/pA26asdVH1E/w-d-xo.html) from the unfairly maligned Momentary Lapse Of Reason album a listen.
    The way some people reacted to Momentary Lapse Of Reason demonstrated only too clearly that 1. You can't please all of the people all of the time, and 2. that even amongst 'fandom' there are sheeple who listen to what other voices tell them rather than letting their ears do the listening and their own brains do the deciding.
    BTW; it's interesting that so many Floyd (and other bands of the time!) fans love to talk about the meaning of the lyrics - you know; the stuff about "the industry" or "the evils" of corporate dominance, "war" etc, etc, etc... and if you think about who the people are who now run "the industry", the corporations that currently dominate people's lives and those who still have zero compunction in sending others to war, they are from the generation that loves to pat itself on the back for what it learned from listening to these bands... What a bunch of hypocrites.

If you don't want to get blocked and I sense you are musical and imaginative, like a bit of a journey, so there's a lot to explore in the 60's and 70's that will pass. You *_SHOULD_* pause when you got some shit to say. That's where the value in reaction videos are found.

    " you dreamed of a big star,
    He played a mean guitar,
    He always ate in a steak bar,
    He loved to drive in his Jaguar.
    So welcome to the machine.”

    so annoyed at some "reactors" who think they can dance to any song. This looks so fake.
