- SYNOPSIS:
Set in the present-day political terrain and discourses in Nigeria, “If I Am President” tells the story of 37-year old Zinachi Ohams, the presidential candidate of the Nigerian Rebirth Party, a new party made up of young idealists and recently metamorphosed from a Civil Society Organization. The group make a push into the murky and rough political terrain, armed with little more than their ideals, and wade through challenges of nasty politically engineered attacks, to emerge as the party and candidate to beat in the elections.

My take from the few scenes I have watched is this: when the elderly jeep car owner talked with the young boy that stole to assuage hunger, he should have saved him first from the killing mob, before lecturing on the total looting of the budget by politicians. The seniors in society have to model how to and what they expect of the young ones like bread thief, to behave. Suggestions to Obasi = May I suggest we script Solutions to the problems of our dear country Nigeria - The senior at the scene of the thief lynching said something - that 'they (that is the youthful mob), have the power but they do not know it, or they know but do not know how to use it to unsit the people that are stealing the NIGERIA'S treasury blind!' What then should the movie show them? The script writers should borrow examples from countries where mass movement of the people have succeeded in ousting such regimes. A country like Nigeria and indeed any family unit will not prosper and flourish when good members refuses to proffer solutions consistently and persistently over a life time - to negative bad behaviour of some of its members, and then pass on the baton of correction to younger members as the years go by. THE PROBLEMS OF NIGERIA STARES US 247366 DAYS OF THE YEAR. THE PEOPLE NEED SOLUTION- MOVIES TO THE PROBLEMS OF OUR DEAR COUNTRY. THROUGH THAT, SOME NIGERIANS MAY TAKE UP THE GAUNTLET OF AN ISSUE, AND PEOPLE MAY ANSWER THE CALL TO SOLVE IT.
This is not just a movie. This is a message that every Nigerians must see. I suggest it should be translated into the 3 major languages to be able to drive home the message to an average Nigerian voter. It should be displayed in market places and the taken to everyone just like evangelism got to all of us.

This piece is just too beautiful ❤️ The speech of Zina at the burial of the protesters that were killed is the message that should reach every African.
This film is genuinely one of the best films I have seen produced from Nollywood. Ayoola Ayolola is an absolutely phenomenal actor and did a great job as the leading man in this. Not only was the production value so high, the supporting cast were also excellent. The cinematography was beautiful, I especially adored the silhouette shots of Zinachi in the office. The Presidential Debate was super realistic and really captured the realities of campaign running. The final speech gave me goosebumps, as did all the speeches, the script writing was sensational. The character of Zinachi was well developed, allowing the viewers to see him respond to conflict, deal with family grievances and seeing if he'd could stick to his guns when his character and vision was called into question.
Overall, this is a film that will leave a long lasting impact on generations to come.
Would love to see more of these high quality movies from Nollywood, this is a movie I would have loved to see in the cinema!
