    i'd recommend taping it with electrical/painters tape as supposed to gluing it

    • @zyourzgrandzmaz

      No, electrical tape becomes a sticky mess and painters tape is literally just paper with glue on it don't use it for anything ever but painting

    Thank you. I have always wanted to know how the mechanism works. Back in 1970 we had a large Bugs Bunny. My Dad kept asking us 5 kids if we were tired of him yet. One day we reluctantly said yes and he did not hesitate to take it apart as he was dying to see how it worked. To this day I wish I had Bugs. Buy it made me so happy to see Dad so happy to perform surgery on him and enjoy it. He did stitch him back up but he never spoke again. Money was tight with our large family so Dad made sure to Thank us many times for our sacrifice.

    Thanks for the brief and precise tutorial. My grandmother broke my bugs bunny by pulling the string too hard and 55 year laters later I realized I could find a replacement on Ebay. I know I'm going to rehab the voice box for a good deal.

    How about cleaning with alcohol. That is what I use. I've fixed quite a few of the mattel talkers. I would not glue the talk box back together. I tape them. It would be a disaster to try and take it apart again to replace the belt when it melts again.

    I'd like to see a similar video on fixing a 1963 Mattel "Crackers" the talking parrot stuffed toy. The string goes thru his hard plastic feet . I pulled the string yesterday and felt (and heard) a pop and he can't talk since. The string still pulls but there's just the odd part of a word. He was part of the "animal yackers" series by Mattel. The mouth also moves when he talks so that would be good to see covered by a fix-it video. Thanks.

    Thank you for this! Your video is of of a handful that my son and I are very grateful for. We have tried to fix a couple of these ourselves, but we have hit a roadblock on a couple of them, and we're hoping you may be able to help. When it comes to the record piece, and the metal piece that connects to it (holding the string in place) what do you do if the two of them have separated from one another. We have messed around with it quite a bit, but we cannot figure out how to get the two pieces together, and we're feeling pretty hopeless at this point. Any suggestions? We would really appreciate it!

    • @speezy8431
      @speezy8431 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No. It's the clutch. It's the metal piece on top of the record piece. When it's NOT broken, it's just ONE piece, but at times, I've seen them separate. There are three bearings that came out with it, so I'm going to monkey around with it and see what happens.

    So, my son eventually came up with a way to fix the pull-string doll I was commenting to you about a year ago. He decided to remove the record completely from the doll and switch it out with another one we had. It wasn't ideal, because we had to sacrifice a Porky Pig, but at least he found a way to make it work. He took the record off of the mechanism, removed the other record from the Porky Pig doll, and swapped the two.
    Also, if you're interested, here's a video of my son's vintage doll collection and some of the videos he's made of fixing them.
