If you own your own Scuba Equipment, it is imperative that you understand how it is assembled and how you can adjust it. However, most new divers purchase equipment that is pre-assembled from the factory. So adjusting and adding accessories to it may be troublesome for some. In this video, Instructor Trainer Bryan Stafford shows us some of the tips and tricks he uses to make sure he re-assembles systems back the way they were.

Trick I use for marking the system is a piece of soap. You take the small piece of soap you'd get from a hotel and shave one edge so it has a sharp edge. Then you can just rub the soap on the harness to mark lines. The best part is the next time you go diving, the soap comes off.

That camera trick has saved me more than once while fixing or servicing stuff. I've used it for years. Highly recommended. It also provides you documentation which can be handy years later.
We use it as well to show customers what the inside of their cylinders look like during an inspection procedure. Plus like you said, great for documentation. I have lost count how many times I have used it to take pictures of the inside of a regulator, after being asked to clean it. Customers never believe us when we tell them how bad the corrosion is. The pictures and videos never lie.

Have not tried the back plate design
Hello searching 4279, check with your local training center. Several centers like ours will allow you to try before you buy. Just last night I took to customers to the pool to let them try out both steel plates and soft plates.
I use a Sharpie paint pen, the pain wears off pretty quickly once underwater.
Paint Pens works great as well.

Hello Bull Johnson, I exclusively only use Mares and SubGravity now. We haven't been an OMS dealer in several years. When we were dealers with them, I used a 94# Red Wing, with their deluxe harness and steel back plate.

OMS make great gear. I have used them for many years. I just happen to be a Mares and SubGravity exclusive dealer now.
