    Are you asking yourself, “Am I too young or too old to start a PhD program?” The answer is: no. If you’re apprehensive about pursuing a PhD program because of your age, there are factors that can hinder or support your progress.
    In this video, I will make some comparisons between starting a PhD program straight from an undergrad program and diving into it at a riper age.

    I am admitted to a college in Germany. Now, I am looking for funding to commence my PhD in 2023. I have been working for 10 years in the industry, and I have completed two masters. I am 37, and I heard some folks indicate that I was too old to start. I thought that doing a Ph.D. is not age-related. This video confirms part of my thinking. Thank you for your motivation and precise information.

    I started my PhD at age 53 and completed at age 58. I was working full-time when I enrolled in my program. The academic work is not the problem. The problem is the debt incurred and the return on investment. Unless your employer is paying for your program, you will incur at least six figures of debt. The labor marketplace will consider you too old and overqualified for employment, leaving you in debt for the rest of your life.

      Most of doctoral programs offer assistantships that can cover tuition and stipend. 90% of the doctoral students I know received assistantships.

    Thank you so much for this informative and motivational video. I am a 43-year-old masters student currently struggling with her thesis .. I am planning to apply for a doctorate abroad, but I have doubts as to whether I have a chance to get a scholarship to continue my life while doing my PhD in the USA at my age. This can be a huge obstacle to a person who wants to move to another country for a doctorate at a certain age, right?

    • @StudyTopiaTV
      @StudyTopiaTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Writing thesis is one of the most challenging task in a graduate school. I don't think continuing your education in the USA is an obstacle, but it will be your opportunity.

      My MA and PhD specialities are completely different from my undergraduate major. I switched it because I want to what I enjoy doing. There are many students who choose their specialities something totally unrelated with their background or former degree but are doing great jobs. Why did you decide to study something new in the first place?

    1:09 You do NOT know what you're talking about. I applied to a PhD program 3 years ago, every university rejected me. Every timeI had a Zoom or face-to-face interview, I could tell that they thought that I was too old, and crazy to even consider a PhD. I went back and got my Master's, and re-applied to different universities. I have 1 offer as of today. FYI, I am now 60 years old.
