She is 55!!! This Amy rocks!
Naw, she`s just crazy AF. If she had the kinda jobs I`ve had, she`d never be able to do it.
... and floats.
Insane level of endurance. Well done.
I'd be dead after, maybe, maybe 1500 meters.
Wow, that is wild! I've been out to the Farallon's (by boat) and that was a long trip. This woman is amazing, and I wouldn't put anything past her. Congratulations Amy!👍🏅🏆 ❤️👍
Me too. Anyone that has both been in the water around here and boated out there can appreciate what a monumental feat this is. Not just the temperature and distance, but incredibly choppy waters. Shark aspect would bother me less; I know they are not interested most of the time
Her medical team and especially her patients are blessed and fortunate to have such a determined person working with and for them, she will never give up and always give her best effort to heal someone's child
Wow! That cold water with sharks. This woman is impressive!
....yeah impressively STUPID & CRAZY!
Crazy if u ask me
great white feeding grounds too
A stupid thought in your head can derail your dreams you want to achieve! Words to live by ❤❤❤
I have dared a lot of things, but this would not be one of them! The sharks, the cold with no wetsuit, the endurance required, but mostly the constant feeling that the sharks would zoom up for dinner(me) would count me out. So to me this is an astonishing feat of bravery!
Ditto here!! Im the same, will take many a challenging and dangerous adventure but i nope out when its skimming the water over GWS home turf. So brave
OMG the Farallons are a major great white shark feeding ground!
Yep
If she keeps doing this, as a matter of chance she WILL be attacked by a Great White.
And she had a beacon light on at night like a fishing lure! Blows my mind.
Scary stuff!!
White sharks seasonally migrate, so they aren't around the Farallons until August and don't really peak until October.
This woman is absolutely incredible! I've been a swimmer my whole.
Her super strength is not her endurance nor her athleticism,
it's her mind and heart..
But he said five years of training.
I lived in San Francisco for 33 years and know how treacherous those waters are and how far offshore the Farallon Islands are. This feat would be nothing less that miraculous for anyone, but for a 55 year old woman, what Amy has accomplished, is nothing less than the worldwide pinnacle of swimming achievement.
Amy should take a bow:-)
47 degrees out there. I didn’t anyone could survive in that water for more than 30 minutes. Let alone the shark attack risk.
Exactly
@@chuckefunn8624 I can handle the water at Linda Mar for 10 to 15 minutes tops on the warmest days. And that’s only when I can warm up on the hot sand afterwards.
Yeah that’s wild. I went diving at a local quarry last weekend with a wetsuit (7mm) but accidentally brought my 3mm gloves. At 100 feet is was 45f and my hands started getting numb and tingly. 20 mins in and I could barely move my fingers at all.
The great white sharks in this area are no joke, that’s nuts
It's scary
Extremely high risk adventure with no reward.
@@williamryan9195no reward? you must have a fun life
@@harrisonbrand8985 It's not about fun it is about taking unnecessary risk with the only reward patting yourself on the back. Doing challenging things and being stupid are different things. Swimming in the Farallon islands is like sleeping on a busy train track in terms of foolish behavior. There are plenty of rewarding things to do in life besides spinning the wheel in an environment you are not and never will be equipped to survive in. I have fished in the area. I know the danger. Only a fool ignores it.
GO IRON WOMAN! Congrats Amy! Everyone is so blown away and proud of you.
Go Amy! So inspiring.
That swim is beyond nuts! Congratulations Amy!
That area is known for seals, sea lions, and great white sharks. She just won russian roulette 🤣🤣🤣
WOW. She is super duper in my book.
I could never get over the fear of sharks in the water. What a brave lady!
She is amazing!
She’s amazing! What an inspiration!
Wow! She’s my idol, that’s incredible! What an amazing person, she has a great laugh too 🥰
Nice story. The reporter did a good job with this. Is he a swimmer also?
I have done Alcatraz and the Tiburon Mile plus a few charity swims in the bay. I love doing them. My favorite parts are getting in and getting out. The in-between is a lot of work.
Outstanding achievement. Amazing story.
Amazing. Well done to her team as well.
Oh My Gosh! This might be the most incredible thing I have ever heard of - Go Amy!!!
Wow, that's an amazing accomplishment, congratulations!
That is amazing. Well done Amy!
Damn, what a badass! This is so inspirational, there's still so much out there to achieve!
a nurse and doing this!? oh my gosh she is amazing! what a bright warm human soul ❤
SHE could have escaped from Alcatraz.
In her sleep 💤
Moved from the Bay area 20 years ago. Great to see Vern (Mr. Involvement) still bringing the fun stories with enthusiasm. Other than not seeing Vern being chased by a shark, this was a great video. Keep it up young man. You look and sound great!
Me too! I come back several times a year, to remind myself just how lucky I am in Virginia Beach, but wow this is truly fabulous!!
Mind blowing! Biggest, nastiest, HUNGRIEST GWS's in the business out there! 🦈
Having surfed the waves at OB, I gotta say this woman is nuts. But sometimes you gotta be nuts😂. WOW
01:15 So Sure of Herself too.. You KNOW I can swim there.. 💗
I didn’t even know people swam that
at night too wtf
That's Awesome!!!!
Amazing, I just checked the English Channel is 21 miles; this is 30 miles!
The water in California is also far choppier and more difficult
Legend! Thanks Amy for inspiring us all!
This lady is legit a beast! Respect
The world record open water swim is 299 miles if anyone was wondering.
And how long did that take? And how many people were escorting the person behind for security reasons
If you've ever read Devil's Teeth, then you will know exactly what kind of woman this is for braving those waters. Incredible.
Truly inspirational! We’ll done Amy, I’ll be on the lookout for your shirt.
It would be sooo great to have that kind of ability in the water.🎉
all hearts!
Wow she is an amazing human too❤
Wow!! You go girl!!
crazy story, thanks for sharing!
I'm paranoid surfing SF just off the beach. the sharks are no joke. this is an insane accomplishment.
Unbelievable accomplishment. Congratulations. Inspiring.
Wow, she’s brave 💪🏽
Good for her!!! Amazing story!!!❤❤❤❤
I’m so amazed. What an incredible achievement, AFTER working her shift at UC! 30 miles in 17 hours! Damn girl you go!!! Swim 🏊
Thank gawd they finally built the barrier on the Golden Gate Bridge otherwise , you just don’t know.
The ocean is not shark infested, that's where sharks live.
Don't judge a book by the cover, love this story. Huge inspiration.
Remarkable 💓💓💓
Absolutely amazing
So awesome. What an amazing woman❤
Extraordinary!
Awesome
Holy wow !! Way to go Amy !!
❤️❤️❤️
Thats sick
AWESOME accomplishment !!!
Damn this lady is a beast . That’s some serious cardio
Wow, crazy strong, knows her body, spends her life helping others ( as long as she's one of the good RNs) smart, enjoys life, moves like a dolphin in the water. I'm so glad I saw this video.
a nurse too ...your the best.. amazing
How did she do that
Awesome!!!
These are the best humans
That's nuts dude. I couldn't imagine.
You're AMAZING!!
Complete Badass!!
Wow! So impressive!
Amazing Amy! 🏊♀️ That’s some grit right there 💪🏽!
Amazing ❤❤
You are beautiful Amy!!
Wow! She’s incredible🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼☝🏼#1
Amy is a fish! yay! A national Treasure, and that guy that said Amy you are my Hero really delivered the message, hero, uh no, but thats the coolest and wow, so hey everybody, if you have health issues or arthritis/bone problems, do swimming, and swimming requires dicipline the rewards you every time.
She’s 55 … no excuses people!
Endurance athlete above & beyond.. long running is incredibly hard but at least you are upright & breathing air at all times. This is being from a different level of human ability
Amazing! What an achievement.
This is one of the most difficult athletic accomplishments possible.
What’s more curious to me is she was in the water for over seventeen hours without any signs of hypothermia? How is that possible
This woman will be wonderfully toned up after this feat!
I bet this lady is an amazing nurse!
LEGEND ! 🙌🏻
Badass!!!
Incredible she didn’t become food. Super sharks 🦈 waters. She even had a light as a lure in her back.
Wow, that's knda insane..
Amy is my hero!!
Women rock 💕
😂
Middle-aged women do very well in open cold water swim. Advantageous body fat ratio with still good fitness/endurance/pain tolerance. And maybe mental strength from wisdom
GO AMY !!!
dang her stroke is impeccable.
47 degrees, 17 hrs but I totally missed the distance??
Fantastic accomplishment!
Too bad they didn’t spell Pacifica correctly in the title.
Pacficia?
Some people have no fear.
Dammmm
Pacficia? Is that near Plaos Vredes?
Amazing. Didn't Hunter Thompson make it to Seal Rock and get rescued.
She is my hero ❤🎉
Where’s Pacficia?
