Synclavier Regen - Presets No Talking

  • This video features a cross-section of the Synclavier Regen factory presets, demonstrating the variety of sounds possible as well as the musicality of the machine. All clips were performed by Leith Fleming-Smith. No outboard effects or processing has been applied.
    A fraction of the factory content - 96 preset timbres - are featured, for a flavour of Regen. Factory content also includes mixes and stacks (not featured) which contain many timbres for multi-timbrality. And Regen further comes with a vast store of royalty-free samples (again not featured here) that can be used as-is or for sound design building blocks.

    Make a keyboard version of this with the Synclavier look and silver wheel, sampling and analog filters. That would be unique and tempting.

    I hope they did the sampling rate, jitter, aliasing and DA-stage modelling right this time and give us a historically correct implementation. Hope they did their homework and listen to Acreil and his analysis of fractional-n divider systems and time multiplexing at DA-convertors!

    • @Synclavier

      I'm afraid not. The V preset standard is proprietary to Arturia. You'd have to recreate it on Regen.

    The sonic potential is already vast. Three feature requests: 1. Independent tuning table for each timbre 2. Output of Timbre#1 to Input ModOsc of Timbre#2. 3. Direct resampling of Timbre-Output to sample / WT. Is this technically possible to do via software upgrade?

    This truly sounds wonderful! Given that it is an all-digital synth, what justifies the price? Could this be released as a softsynth or are there components inside that force this to be in an unorthodox square box? It does not "look" to have any performance-enhancing controllers. I'm just confused overall as to why such a wonderful sounding synth is in this weird, strange box (minus any visible usable controllers). This reminds me of my old Roland JV-1080 I had to menu-dive for days to adjust the cutoff frequency. I'm honestly NOT trying to be snarky or condescending, just trying to find out if this could be right for me.

    • @ZenMountain
      @ZenMountain 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Nothing justifies $2,500 for this. And there are plenty of software emulations, their own Synclavier plugin, and the Arturia one. I love the sound but absolutely hate the interface and I think in should cost $1,100.

    Great synth! I just got the Arturia Synclavier V and I hope the Synclavier Regen comes out as a VST synth at some point for those of us who can't afford a 2500$ USD synth.
    I would surely get the VST version of Regen.
    Roland, Korg and Akai have multiplatform synths available as hardware and software at the moment.

      @@effex75If this was available as a VST and it would probably be a premium priced VST (like UVI Falcon, Steinberg HALion 6 etc...), it would be worth it to me for sure.
      I prefer Regen's tone to many modern digital synths (hardware or software) on the market today. Regen has a very nice vintage-like sound that I just really love and it seems almost attainable since this is an all-out digital synth and could probably be made to run on a modern PC/Mac.

    • @jeromelebel8603
      @jeromelebel8603 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There is a very classy, wonderful old-school vibe in Regen's sound. It has that emotional, multi-dimensional, dreamy and evocative sound that classic synths (digital or analog) had that modern synths, though they sound good, tend to miss.

    Based on what was shown in loopop's video, this needs a delay and analog drift, the latter of which would make many of these patches sound far more organic. Add these two features and I could sell a few synths and replace with this, due to the huge polyphony and multi-timbrality.

    well it is sort of opposite of what they achieved with their first series. The first synclavier had the best of the best... ridiculous expensive but ok, it was the first of its kind.... this has nothing that justifies the price. I mean, buy omnisphere and you infinite more possibilities and (better) sounds.
    If I would buy the Regen (when money would be no issue at all) , I would only do it so i can say, I own a synclavier. But still, this machine offers nothing for the price except the name.
