How Accurate Is A Laser Tape Measure? (Lexivon)

I've seen more and more of these tape measures with lasers on them to help give you accurate measurements. Well I took one of the top rated ones and did my own real world tests to show you how accurate it can be.

Even my Bosch green laser measuring tool says it is not meant for outside. I imagine the red laser varieties out there are even more affected by sunlight. Thanks for sharing.

Checked their product page after reading your comment and they don't say anything about not using it outdoors.

I would probably use that for estimating floor area and of course adding 3% or 5% or 10% (depending on each person's estimating vs buying standard). I have the Bosch Blazer 165 foot and i use that one indoors for estimating distances, areas, etc. Works well for that. Thank you for taking the time to show this item.

I do finish and would never trust those ! I use a Leica Disto and it’s extremely accurate and I can covert it to read certain plans . However ; I would not use it outside . Also mine has a hook on the back to place on open edges and calculates the distance. Bout $150 US .

How is it ever more simple than calling out measurements in 16th’s? Metric people may have an argument, but other than that…
