The rubber mats are beneficial for protecting the carpets from liquids.(spills, wet weather, etc.) What he dumped onto the carpet were dry items that would be vacuumed up.
Right? I was never allowed to eat in the car, or leave anything. Whether it was trash, or anything I could use later. And now I see why. Leave the car the way you found it.
Definitely a live saver when it came to my leather seats. Put one under my 4 year old son’s carseat and I am glad since I keep finding the protector collects 99% of what he drops and even for some odd reason some sticky residue that I have no idea where it came from. Lol kids though.

Maybe next time the 5 and 7 year old kids could help taking out all the trash. That might change the mindset to avoid the mess in the first place. Or encourage them to get everything out when you get home right away.
When I was a kid the rule was everything we brought in the car came out when we got home. This included any dropped pretzels or trash from snacks. My moms car was always clean, even when she had 4 kids under 10 in there.
We weren't allowed to bring things in the car that would make it messy, the food we ate had minimal crumbs, toys had to be brought in, and out. We only had to vacuum the car like once a year. I just don't get how this happens in the first place lol. I'm not saying he should put some stricter rules but maybe it'd be better. Although... The vid is great so idk
I got a challenge for you bro! Do a detail only using: Vacum cleaner An old tee shirt Water Soap Sponge An old brush And anything else you can find in any house! So no all purpuse cleaner, no steam cleaner, no extractor, if you want to agitate the stains in the carpet you have to use the old brush, ... The goal is a 0$ car cleaning!

In the winter in snowy areas those rubber mats are carpet savers. Between slush and salt and just wet boots, the regular carpet mats just get so gross.
probably also to keep debris from getting ground into the the carpet fibers over time. to dump it off and vacuum it right away wouldn’t do much harm i assume

I used to detail for the used car department at a Honda dealer, trade in Odyssey's were always the dirtiest possible vehicles followed by any CRV. I should have made TH-cam videos, I once folded down the back seats in an Odyssey and found a dirty diaper just kind of crammed into the cup holder on the back of the seat.
I LOVE all the “expert parent” comments 😂 I’m pregnant with baby #6 and cleaning up messes is a BIG part of parenting. Eating in the car is part of busy family life and getting the kids to clean it out, unfortunately, does not keep them from making another mess. I’m a mom of threes boys and one thing I am super strict on is taking any and all trash out of the car every time we get home. Also, anything they brought with them in the car gets taken back inside. It only takes 30 seconds to grab the trash and items out of the car, and it really does help prevent a huge mess. I don’t think I could handle driving a vehicle around that is this trashed. But I do enjoy watching you clean these messes. The before and after is so satisfying.

No, I have 3 grown kids and 7 grandchildren. My kids were not allowed to eat in our van unless we were driving out of town and that was rare. My grandbabies on the other hand are a little spoiled and I see how messy my van is now. Sooo, with that said, I will be implementing that rule with them now, because they will just drop their trash anywhere. I can't stand it!

I have 3 kids and I don’t care how many times you tell them, how many trash bags you give them, they STILL manage to crud up the car! 😁 The carpet in my old van is so matted from sodas spilled on the floor, they don’t even have texture anymore!!! You do a fantastic job and in the end, the kids matter, the car doesn’t, and you get a great vid out of cleaning it. 👍🏻👍🏻

Here’s a tip, on stains on seats and things at Walmart there’s something called OxiClean carpet cleaner. I really recommend you trying it
I'm a fellow detailer in Ohio. I too have let my personal vehicle get to the point where I had to get some work in on it. Glad to hear I'm not the only detailer who needs to detail there own vehicle after too long of a wait!
YOU NEED TO DO A DETAIL ON A VEHICLE THAT DRIVES ON GRAVEL/DIRT ROADS 90% OF THE TIME, THAT WILL BE A SATISFYING DETAIL TO DO FOR YOU AND US VIEWERS👍

I totally get it. With 3 kids (youngest is 9 months) and being a college student my car was my last priority. Watching these videos gave me motivation to get out there and give Nellie the deep clean she deserves.

Wow! I don't have kids so I'm tripping out on how messy they get. You're a nice dad to clean it yourself, if I ever got my parents' cars like that I'd be cleaning it all myself. Heck I did clean them by myself sometimes LOL. It's such a difference the before and after and an amazing job you did. I'm sure your wife appreciates your hard work cleaning the cars and we appreciate watching the videos, thanks!
I also subscribe to your wife’s channel, so I’ve seen your kids. They’re capable. Do yourselves a favor and involve them in the picking up process. It doesn’t take a lot of time and will hopefully develop into a habit, if not a deterrent, that will serve them (and you) well throughout their lives.

Lool omg I really hate to say this, but you missed a spot, the roof handle (idk the official name) to the right where you cleaned the spots. The spill caught the actual handle haha
